Another top al-Qaeda man killed ("right-hand man to Zarqawi")

Another top al-Qaeda man killed

A US air strike on a fleeing vehicle killed a senior al-Qaeda in Iraq leader on Friday in the same area where two American soldiers went missing a few hours later, a US military spokesman said.

US forces had been on the trail of Mansur al-Mashhadani, identified as the top al-Qaeda religious leader in the country, before he was killed in the Yusufiya area just south of Baghdad, said Major General William Caldwell.

Mashhadani was one of the top five al-Qaeda in Iraq leaders and close to its mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who was also killed by a US air strike on June 7.

"He was a right-hand man to Zarqawi," Gen. Caldwell said.

4. I agree. Remember "Kill 'em all and let God sort it out"?
We just call them whatever is convenient.

Witness our two convicted AlQueedoos, Mossouwi (or however you spell it) and Padilla.

Idjits, Morans.

And then there's the crafty, card-carrying Mensan Richard Reid - the bomber of shoes.

6. They're all either number twos or threes in the hierarchy but...
...they advance to those positions only after we kill them. The interesting thing is that they're promoted by the U.S. I guess we must have a lot of influence over Al Qaeda. Quelle surprise.

I guess the one point bounce Bu$h got after Zarqawi was killed got them all enthused. So now we are going to see them knock off these thugs one at at time. What happened to Osama? I think we have a better chance of catching Elvis.

14. This is Jihad alright .....
Theistic Holy War, pitting religious leaders against religious leaders ....

Where does an atheist go to escape ? ....

Do they realize how many HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of young arabs WANT to be the one who 'bravely fights the apostate infidel americans' ..... ????

They pretend that getting rid of a few leaders will mollify the danger, and make everything all better .... This is a ridiculous notion ....

There are tens of millions of Zarqawis' waiting in line..... and nearly a billion faithful soldiers to carry out their orders ...

16. What is 'al-Mashhadani'?
Is it an epithet that can be freely applied to anybody sharing a common trait--like al-Masri can be applied to any Egyptian or "the Greek" could be applied to any Greek? Is it a clan name, a sort of surname, like Sadr or al-Rubaie seem to be, like "Kozlowski"? Or both, like 'Hunter' could be?

I've seen it used as equivalent to a surname in a few places. For example, it's shared by the Haditha resident who provided the footage of the Haditha killings. And I'm pretty sure I've seen it applied to some leader local there--possibly this particular al-Mashhadani is the same guy, possibly not.

In other words: What's the likelihood that we're looking at members of the same clan?

17. I've noticed propaganda nation is complete
which is why I've given up all hope. They connect everything in Iraq to Al Queda. We have no way of knowing who our military actually kill, why, how or when, what their position is, what it means, we KNOW nothing. I hear that those poor boys that were just found killed were taken by "Al Queda." You see they perfected it. The war in Iraq has become the war against "Al Queda". The ones that did 9/11. They made the propaganda true. And as long as they keep killing our children-our soldiers-as long as we are there-we will keep killing theirs-and feel justified. They are only "Al Queda" and all deserve to die. And it doesn't matter how many times you point out facts, that there was no Al Queda when Saddam was there-it doesn't matter. They make the propaganda come true every day. As long as we remain in Iraq the propaganda is true. We cannot win against that.

21. Looks like the Summer Propaganda Offensive is underway
Edited on Tue Jun-20-06 05:20 PM by tom_paine
I think the Busheviks will, again, win out over the Imperial Subjects of Amerika. The Summer Softening Campaign has begun. Really, it began in April with the beginning of the Zarquawi Psyop, which elevated this minor Jordanian Ex-Pat to Public Enemy #1.

Then...in September...(wait for it)...a Shiny New Product Rollout.

Will it be the Buildup to War With Iran?

Or perhaps Cheney resigns and McCain becomes VP (and that means he'll be our next Emperor).

Who knows, the specifics are impossible to predict, but the pattern is as clear as a neon arrow and I see no reason for it to change.

In either case, that will buoy them until they start to sink again. Then it's time for the October Surprise.

Will it be another Bin Laden Republican Campaign Video, or are those only for Imperial Leader Appointment (used to be called Presidential Election) Years?

Whatever it is, these guys are as predictable as Stalin. Yawn.

The only thing worse than that is how often they get away scot free. If we cannot collectively stop them, at the ballot box or in court, then the Old American Republic is quite simply dead and buried. I hate to say it and I dearly wish to be wrong, but the Old American Republic can no longer defend itself. Too much of the Constitution is now defunct or ignored.

We must keep trying, and if we lose and darkness falls, let history record that we acquitted ourselves well.

22. We used to kill a lot of Al-Qaeda's "Number 2s"
Now we are killing Al-Zarqawi's "right hand" men. Meanwhile, our troops continue to die and suffer in a place they have no business being at, while our Glorious Commander-in-Chief goes strutting to Iraq to gaze at the eyes of the puppet President.

If you ask me, the wrong people are the ones doing the dying and suffering in Iraq!
