Campaign 2006: Angelides slow to offer crime views
He hasn't yet decided on sex offender initiative.
By Andy Furillo -- Bee Capitol Bureau

An empty canvas when it comes to crime, Phil Angelides paints himself as tough on the issue as anybody, a death penalty supporter who also backs California's "three strikes" sentencing law, if not entirely to the hilt.

"I'll protect our families, our neighborhoods, everything we hold dear," the Democratic gubernatorial candidate said in an interview. "I'm a husband and a father of three daughters, and I will give no quarter to criminals."

But the state treasurer has yet to take a position on "Jessica's Law," the initiative slated for the November ballot that promises to run convicted sex offenders out of town, or at least prohibit them from living within 2,000 feet of parks or schools.

"I will very shortly lay out a comprehensive program which will be the toughest in the nation to crack down on sexual predators," Angelides said.

Without staking out a solid position on the sex offender statute, Angelides has left himself open to attacks from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's political camp. The Republican incumbent firmly favors the law, and his press aides make a regular point of pounding Angelides for laying back on the measure.

9. The CA Dem leadership, like the nat'l leadership, is paying NO ATTENTION
to the vote stealing equipment--and it is really going to bite them, and us, in the ass! (--and already has!).

1. After former Repub Sec of State, Bill Jones and his chief aide, Alfie Charles, authorized electronic election theft technology for Calif and then went to work for one of the major vendors, Kevin Shelley got elected as Sec of State, found election integrity in appalling shape from these hastily purchased electronic systems, provided Californians with a paper ballot option, required a "voter verified paper ballot" for all electronic voting, sued Diebold for their lies about the security of their touchscreen voting machines, demanded to see their source code (in the lawsuit), and decertified the machines prior to the '04 election, thus earning the ire not just of the Bush junta (big buds of Diebold), but also of the most corrupt county election officials in the state--mostly Repub, but including Diebold shills like Connie McCormack in L.A.--by withholding Tom Delay's electronic voting boondoggle billions from the counties for purchase of these crapass, insecure and extremely hackable voting machines.

2. Kevin Shelley gets "swiftboated" out of office on entirely bogus corruption charges. The new Dem state leadership abandons him.

3. Schwarzenegger APPOINTS a Repub Sec of State, Bruce McPherson, who has now ILLEGALLY RE-certified Diebold touchscreens. (The Dems, with a 2 to 1 majority in the Leg, approve the appointment.)

What's wrong with this picture? Or, rather, what's REVEALING about this picture? Why do Repubs need crapass, insecure, extremely hackable voting machines, run on 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code, owned and controlled by crapass Bushite corporations, to get elected?

Why did Tom Delay and Bob Ney (the biggest crooks in the Anthrax Congress) insist on no paper trail, and permit private, secret vote counting by Repub partisan corporations, secret industry "testing" of the machines, preference to paperless touchscreens, lavish lobbying, and $4 billion badly needed by Halliburton, with which to bribe and entice state/county election officials to hastily purchase these NON-TRANSPARENT, crapass voting systems?

Dem candidates like Angelides get led around by the nose on fascist agendas BECAUSE the war profiteering corporate news monopolies have COVERED UP, SMOTHERED, BLACK-HOLED, "IRON CURTAINED" and/or MARGINALIZED the most important facts about our election system: WHO is counting our votes. HOW they are being counted. Its utter NON-TRANSPARENCY. It's utter UNVERIFIABILITY. And what really went down between Shelley and these corrupt county election officials (who are now even defying his requirement of a paper ballot option!).

Led around by the nose. Cart before the horse. Writing the phony election narrative before the election (Rove). Planting the turds in the "news" now, that will be used later to "explain" the phony, miraculous, "comeback" victory of the murderous, thieving, lying, loathed-by-70% of the American people, goddamned fascist Bushites in November.

The ONLY Calif Democratic leader that I know of, who is paying attention to this vital matter, is DEBRA BOWEN, who is running for Sec of State against Diebold shill, Schwarz/Bushite/Diebold appointee McPherson.

Don't the Democrats care WHO is counting all our votes, and HOW? Are they insane?

Re: sex offenders.

OBVIOUSLY these fascists are tailoring their scapegoats and witchhunts to their audiences. In some places it's gays. In others, brown-faced immigrants. In others, sex offenders. It used to be blacks. They can't sell a witchhunt of gays in California, so they sell a sex offender witchhunt. To all of these tactics, Dems should be replying that laws involving people's civil rights should not be made into political footballs; that they will do the best job of balancing civil rights and the Constitution with the protection of victims/innocents, as they have always done. It is the REPUBLICANS, and especially BUSHITE Republicans like Schwarzenegger, who are INVENTING "hate issues" because they have failed in every conceivable way to run a good state and a good country.

That's what a focused Democrat who really believes in democracy, and who is secure in his beliefs, would say. But it's a rare Dem these days who is secure in his beliefs, or secure in any way. He can be "swiftboated" at the drop of a hat. George Schultz gives the word--and supplies the domestic spying material/black ops--and all the corporate news monopolies will line up for the gang rape. He can be given "thumbs down" by Diebold and ES&S; they tweak the central electronic vote tabulators, and all the Repub and Diebold-shill counties will look the other way. So he'd better not attack the heart of the problem--Diebold/ES&S (if he has any mind to, if he's not collusive with it all). And he'd better not call them on their witchhunting crap. He had better just shut up and let them ask him, "Do you support child molesters?"--as they write their phony script for their phony "victory" at the phony polls controlled with secret programming by Bushite corporations. Oppose the Corporate Rulers, and they will get you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Throw Diebold, ES&S and ALL election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor' NOW! --if you want your country back.

 :patriot:

I think Angelides starts from a good position. The bases are now being laid.
