Bush Approval Steady at 37%
Bush's approval at current level throughout June, higher than ratings in May

GALLUP NEWS SERVICE

PRINCETON, NJ -- President George W. Bush's job approval rating is holding steady at 37%, showing very little change across three separate Gallup Polls conducted in June, 2006. Bush began the month at 36%, was at 38% in a June 9-11 poll, and is now at 37% in a new USA Today/Gallup Poll, conducted June 23-25, 2006.

From a slightly broader perspective, the trends show that Bush's ratings so far this year can be divided into four segments: 1) He began the year with job approval ratings in the low 40% range, 2) Bush fell to the 36%-39% range throughout much of February, March, and April, 3) He slipped to 31% in early May (his administration low point), and 4) Bush recovered to previous levels as this month began.

Bush's ratings continue to be highly divisive along partisan lines. Eighty-one percent of Republicans say they approve of Bush, while 32% of independents, and only 10% of Democrats share that point of view.

The modest recovery in Bush's overall rating reflects a recovery primarily among Republicans. At the beginning of May, 2006, when Bush's approval rating was at its low point, 68% of Republicans said they approved of Bush. Now, this percentage has increased to 81% in the current survey. Democrats' ratings of Bush have not shown nearly as much fluctuation since the beginning of May, but there has been some improvement in views of Bush, with ratings among Democrats at 4% in early May to 10% currently. Among independents, views of Bush improved modestly as well, up from 26% in early May to 32% in the latest poll.

4. While I don't believe he's back up to 37% I don't think that
37% approval rating is something to brag about.

12. No, he's just recovered some of his
deluded base. That's why they ARE his base: throw them a bone and they wag their tails and pant for more.

18. There was a time, years ago, when I registered Republican. . .
I felt at the time there were certain potential Republican candidates who were so despicable I needed to vote as early as possible to ensure they were stopped before they ever rose to any level of prominence on the State or National stage. Unfortunately, since then the general situation's deteriorated so much I feel a greater need to not lend my "support" in any fashion to the Republican cause, even in so slight a method as non-conributing registration, lest my "endorsement" be used to further their cause. So now I remain registered Democrat, to lend the weight of my full-backing to the cause (even when I don't always agree with it).

I can see how there would be Republicans who would do the same today, or as hadrons says above simply proclaim a contrary allegiance to a pollster to skew the tally, and those people, I believe, are the 10% Democrats who support Bush. They, and the truly confused and braindead.

13. I know Republicans
I see them walk around, breath the same air I do. But lord how can 81% approve of the job Bush is doing? They must occupy a reality that is markedly different than mine, red appears green, and green appears red -- we can never know as we are each trapped inside our own subjectivity ... except we get hints by their actions, like the muscular actions of chest, throat, and tongue to form and say the word "I do" when asked if the approve of the job done by the worst President in U.S. history.

Alien. Truly, aliens.

14. Exactly
...how can 81% of them actually approve of that waste of space, it boggles my mind. By every metric possible the man is a bigger disaster than Katrina, how can one group of people be so utterly blind and ignorant????.

16. BS spin cannot cover the facts
remember when Clinton's numbers "fell" to 61% and that 61% number was treated as if he was absolutely loathed by the public?

Now these RW cretin attempt to act like a 37% is good - and that this POS has "coattails" and will "carry" the load for the pukes for the November elections.

These stoopid stenographers for Rove just piss me off.

Dimson and his followers are LOSERS and LIARS and CRIMINALS.

21. They are beginning the pre-election poll manipulation to make it look
as though it is plausible for the GOP to win so that they can steal the votes again. All they have to do is make it look possible, the rest can be fixed.
