32 Large Fires Burning in 8 Western States
Edited on Tue Jun-27-06 09:36 PM by AnOhioan
RENO, Nev. (AP) - More than 1,000 firefighters fought lightning-sparked blazes that had burned more than 80,000 acres across northern Nevada by Tuesday, putting just about every available piece of equipment and firefighter on the lines.

The fires were among 32 large ones burning in eight western states, according to the National Fire Information Center in Boise, Idaho.

2. It seems that way in central NM
I haven't been able to see the Rockies, 15 miles away, in over a week due to the smoke from all the fires here and in Arizona.

It feels like an elephant is siting on my chest, too.

6. Thanks, I am
but it's still hard to breathe this stuff. I'm no longer used to air I can see!

There have been storms the last couple of nights, so maybe tomorrow will be a bit better. What we in the southwest really need is for a Pacific hurricane to come up the Gulf of California and rain itself out over the west.

Cross your fingers for us!
