Bush:'I'm not happy'about Bolton's resignation(You've been a stalwart defender of freedom and peace
Edited on Mon Dec-04-06 10:37 PM by ianwood
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- An unhappy President Bush said Monday he regretfully accepted John Bolton's decision to leave his temporary job as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Senate opposition, led mostly by Democrats, doomed Bolton's confirmation to serve permanently.

"I'm not happy about it," Bush said during a farewell appearance at the White House attended by Bolton and his wife, Gretchen.

"I think he deserved to be confirmed. The reason I think he deserved to be confirmed is that I think he did a fabulous job for the country."

Turning to Bolton, Bush said, "We're going to miss you in this administration. You've been a stalwart defender of freedom and peace.

"You've been strong in your advocacy for human rights and human dignity. You've done everything that can be expected for an ambassador."

16. "Newspeak" - George Orwell's "1984"
I believe W thinks 1984 is a self-help book for aspiring tyrants. "Cautionary tale" is a term that's not in his lexicon.

21. In this context, it's fitting that "fabulous" has the same root as "fable"...
... or "made-up story."

Bush is never so truthful as when he's lying.

7.  I Never thought i will live to see the day.
John Bolton's departure from the U.N. is long overdue. Bolton was part of the information fixing process in the selling of the invasion of Iraq. He was no ambassodor, and an embarrassment to the U.S. as is President Bush.
Bolton like John Negroponte is leftover spoiled goods from the President Reagan (also known as the Butcher of Central America.)
Keep a close watch on Bolton's wherabouts - he is guilty of war crimes, and like many other Bush admin players, should stand trial for their crimes

12. Coming from the Chimp
this is unbelievable...
"You've been strong in your advocacy for human rights and human dignity. You've done everything that can be expected for an ambassador."

The president who has implemented torture and mistreatment of detainees, and the right to lock people up with no right to lawyers, no charges, and no trials, DARES to talk about human rights and human dignity? He is insane. He is even more insane if he believes that anybody with a shred of intelligence will believe his lies. Bolton was a disaster, which is why Bush supported him. They are both scum.

26. Good riddence to bad rubbish.
Mr. Bolton is an ignorant, dangerous man. He sees the world through extremist eyes and his sole aims were old fashioned and could only serve one purpose: American Profit. He was a danger to the international community and an insult to Americans around the world. Thank god this was predictable... as predictable as President Bush leaving a legacy of shame for the USA. Mr. Boltons departure is great news for the world - I just wish Mr Bush would leave office as well... impeachment?
