BREAKING: 10 US Soldiers Killed Today In 2 Separate IED Attacks in Iraq
Edited on Wed Dec-06-06 12:17 PM by stopbush
Per Jim Miklowseski on MSNBC (I'm sure I mis-spelled Jim's surname). He just made the statement to Scarborough...said the news hadn't yet been released
by the US government.

44. 3,000 US soldiers is a large number but you know what really gets me
and I don't mean this to be anyway an attack against you, but 3,000 is nothing when you compare it to 600,000 innocent people that have died as a result of this war. The media never mentions this fact and honestly I get the feeling that most americans don't really give a shit. My father, a republican, actually said this to me the other day when we were watching the news, 200 some people had died in an attack and his response was "well, none of those were americans now were they". I completely lost it that day and told him how disappointed I was.

We're talking about over half a million people that are dead. These are innocent women, man, boys, girls, toddlers that did not ask for this shit. But because of a drunk coked out frat boy that wanted to line the pockets of his wealthy friends with more money they are not here today.

I hope that there is a heaven and hell so this asshole and all the people that did this can burn for the rest of eternity.

45. "most americans don't really give a shit."
Nope- and the time WILL come, and not too far down the line when Americans' unsustainable (and non-negotiable) "way of life" will collapse and a lot of people are going to suffer.

At that point, I doubt much of the world will give shit about them either.

What goes around, comes around.

here all those wingnuts were claiming the insurgents were escalating the violence to help the DEMS win. Man, how can it be anymore clear that the situation is so completely out of control with probably hundreds of factional splinter groups carrying out violence for profit/revenge or gain and it is totally unrelated to ANY action or decision made in the states

Is there a study or other information showing how many lives are impacted by the death of one soldier? Or the economic impact on a family if the soldier was the 'head' of the family? - like it has impacted so many national guard families.

on the bidness channel. He and his panel of guests were denouncing the as-yet-unreleased ISG report, the liberals and the media saying that we could be victorious in Iraq - all we needed was the will. I so desperately wanted those rich mofo's immediately arrested and sent to Iraq. Nasty sonsofbitches. They don't bleed. Hell, they won't even have their taxes raised. Yet they kick back and say, "Aw hell, we could win this thing easy if we had the resolve." Larry, take your resolve and cram it up your tax break.

An Uncle I never met was killed in December in WWII - Christmas was never the same for my grandparents.

No matter the time of year the pain never goes away. But at the holidays what a pain to have to have in your heart!

But hey - Walmart is saying Merry Christmas!

Time to send the Bush Twins, Jebbie and all other Bush spawn and all the lawmakers who voted for this travesty kids over to Iraq! Let them have the worry Jim Webb and so many others have this holiday season. Let them experience that empty place at the table or have a loved one struggling with brain injury, burns and missing limbs.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Ten American servicemembers were killed in two improvised explosive device attacks in Iraq on Wednesday, NBC News reported. The news came hours after a mortar attack killed at least eight people and wounded dozens in the Sadr City Shiite district of the capital, police said.

In the 10 American deaths, five troops were killed in the north, and five were killed in Anbar province, a U.S. military official told NBC’s Jim Miklaszewski. No further details were immediately available.

The mortar attack in Sadr City was followed closely by a suicide bombing, police said. Two rounds landed and exploded in the Haraj Market in a mixed Shiite-Sunni area in northern Baghdad, said police officers Ali Mutab and Mohammed Khayoun, who provided the casualty totals.

thought to what to do at this point, after getting rid of Rummy. Bush also held off until after the election to fire rummy!? Bush is incapable of serious thought, excuse me.

The Iraq Committee said they held off their report due to the election, and still waited a month to issue it! No hurry there either.

The mind just buzzes with this kind of logic----

Edited on Wed Dec-06-06 03:57 PM by lyonn
after each report of U.S. deaths in Iraq, something to the effect, being the last to die for a losing cause. With the Iraq report coming out today it makes it even more depressing.

The next month could be even worse for our troops due to this being our religious holiday season. Makes better headlines for their cause.

ME countries, Lebanon in particular, are demonstrating against their leaders that are U.S. backed - Not Good!

For years our media has enabled a defective person, our president, to bring us down! What price a steady paycheck?

It is up to the enablers, republicans, to get this jerk out of office before he can do more damage, show some honor and guts. Repubs got Nixon out, they need to save their place in history by doing the honorable thing now!

U.S. confirms death of 10 U.S. soldiers in Iraq

1 hour, 16 minutes ago

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Ten American soldiers were killed in four incidents in
Iraq on Wednesday, a U.S. military spokesman said, as a report from an elite panel recommended the United States begin to withdraw forces from combat.

"We can confirm 10 U.S. soldiers have died in four separate events," spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Garver said, adding some of the victims had been killed by roadside bombs and others in combat.

Under pressure to end an unpopular war that has killed more than 2,900 Americans and thousands of Iraqis,President Bush said he would take the report from the bipartisan Iraq Study Group "very seriously."

October was the deadliest month for U.S. troops this year, when 106 service members died in Iraq. American defense officials then said the high toll was due to increased violence during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, as well as efforts by insurgents to affect the U.S. congressional elections.

As of 12/6/06

Total US Soldier deaths from current Iraq war: 2919
December total: 28
Holiday total(between Thanksgiving and Christmas '06): 45

http://www.icasualties.org/oif/
http://icasualties.org/oif/US_chart.aspx
http://www.antiwar.com/casualties/index.php

So how many familys will get the news that their son/daughter died a war "hero", this holiday season? Still counting, it's only Dec 6th.

I had a repug comment on how it's hard to imagine someone being so excited in seeing people die, because of a previous post of the count. I had to explain to him that I was not excited but keeping it in the public eye, and it's something the republicans should be ashamed of. So the count continues.

58. Olbermann had a small segment on tonight about
3 other women who happened to wear the same dress as Mrs. Chimp to one of those WH parties. He mentioned it was a designer gown that cost $8,000. Women who can afford to spend $8000 on a dress are few and far between and no doubt in the top 1%. While chimp entertains his "base" lavishly, the families of all those dead military personnel are paying for all that champagne and caviar while facing the most miserable, gut-wrenching Christmas imaginable.
