Recount Overturns Vermont Auditor Race
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 1:02 p.m. ET

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) -- A judge overturned the state auditor's election Thursday after a recount showed the Democratic challenger had actually beaten the Republican incumbent by 102 votes.

It was the first time in Vermont that a statewide election was overturned in a recount, the state archivist said.

Washington Superior Court Judge Mary Miles Teachout declared Democrat Thomas M. Salmon the winner over Auditor Randy Brock after reviewing the results of a hand recount conducted by county clerks after the November election.

..cut..
it turned out that some of his votes had been mistakenly attributed to Liberty Union candidate Jerry Levy on the first count.

2. You don't even begin to know what wonderful news that is to me
I and other Medicaid recipients have been suffering in part because of the Republican idiot's war on Medicaid, er "Medicaid fraud". As a consequence of his reign of terror I have been denied Medicaid transportation on the grounds I can use a bus (I can't even get as far as the end of the parking lot without assistance, and none of my medical providers think I can use a bus), and so am reduced to waiting till I can call 911 to get to an ER. I just today have gotten the replacement support socks I was measured for in *April* (my history includes emboli in both lungs and at least a half dozen instances of cellulitis). Prior to his attack on Medicaid, er fraud, both transportation and medical appliances were reviewed and approved promptly.

I loath that Repiglican and hope the Dem can point that office at real fraud for a change.

3. How did those votes get tallied for that other guy?
Was it valid mistake or intentional?
