AP report: Bush library headed to SMU

President Bush’s presidential library site committee is entering negotiations with Southern Methodist University in Dallas to place the much-sought, $200 million library there, apparently dumping from consideration Baylor University’s hard-fought bid to bring the library to Waco.

SMU President R. Gerald Turner made the announcement this afternoon through a statement on the SMU Web site.

“It is my pleasure to inform you that Don Evans, chairman of the George W. Bush Presidential Library Search Committee, notified us that SMU has been selected by the committee for the next phase of planning discussions,” Turner said. “These discussions will begin after the first of the year.

“We do not know how long these discussions will take,” Turner said. “However, any significant announcement concerning the process will come from Chairman Evans.”

17. Besides Bush's "papers"--it could hold the books written about his presidency.
Perhaps we DU'ers could donate a few. Will Pitt?

Michael Moore & Spike Lee could donate to the multimedia section.
