President, Mrs. Bush visit wounded soldiers at Walter Reed hospital
President, Mrs. Bush visit wounded soldiers at Walter Reed hospital
The Associated PressPublished: December 22, 2006

WASHINGTON:
President George W. Bush visited injured troops at their bedsides on Friday, continuing an annual pre-Christmas tradition of comforting soldiers that he began after the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Bush and first lady Laura Bush traveled to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, visiting with 38 patients among those being treated there for injuries suffered mostly in Iraq, but also in Afghanistan. Seeing troops with amputated limbs and other serious wounds, the president asked them how they were feeling, if their care was adequate and talked with family members and medical staff, said spokeswoman Dana Perino.

While there, the president decorated 14 of the wounded.

Afterward, Bush and his wife were joining Girl Scouts and children of hospital staff to briefly wrap and sort presents that will be given to families and children of wounded military personnel on the Dec. 25 Christmas holiday. Later Friday, Bush was to head for Camp David, where he planned to remain with his family through Christmas.

1. Two guesses as to whether the soldiers were screened in advance
or perhaps given a heavy dose of morphine before the Shrubs visit. I mean, I would hate to think of Bush having to put up with pissed off, injured soldiers, and spoiling the Bush's holiday festivities. :sarcasm:

2. and I am sure
no blown-off faces or brain injuries will be shown. That would be too icky for the American public to stomach.

3. Say it isn't so
What utter tripe! Like they need a visit from the non-patriots who caused them to be injured in the first place. Pathetic, pathetic irony. Has that ass no shame at all???!!!! And whoooppeeee, decorations.

14. No, sociopaths do NOT have any
shame..so for bush and the pickled one to go visit the destruction to human lives that they have wrought, through lying to make sure we bombed Iraq, means less than zero.

4. "...And it's also remarkable to me,
these men and women who have volunteered to serve our country, who've received terrible wounds, but whose spirits are strong, their resolve is strong, and their dedication to our country remains strong."

Yea, I guess he would find that 'remarkable'. He's never had that resolve or dedication unless it was in search of another line of blow.

5. I'm picturing the shrub decorating 14 of the wounded
with tinsel and candy canes. That would be in accordance with the respect he actually seems to feel for them.

6. Hey, it's a great photo-op
Isn't that what being an elected political official is all about: photo-ops, attack ads., and gay daughters? Changing actual policy is so 1850.

10. Does anybody know if he's done this before?
Has he really visited every year for 4 years? We in our household do not remember previous photo ops.

11. decorating soldiers and presents...
While at Walter Reed, the president and his wife briefly joined Girl Scouts and Brownies who were wrapping presents for families and children of wounded military personnel.

"Brownies, you're doing a heckuva job."

Hey howzabout W fills these soldiers in on his new secret plan to move "forward" that he's keeping under wraps until next year, and and any more wounded this year under the old decrepit failed plan.
