Nebraska Democrats name new director

Matt Connealy, a two-term state senator who is being term limited out of office next week, will become the next executive director of the Nebraska Democratic Party.

Connealy, 55, of Decatur, replaces Barry Rubin, a Maryland native who resigned last month after managing the party for three years.

"Matt Connealy brings an incredible record of public service and years of dedicated involvement in the Nebraska Democratic Party," party chairman Steve Achelpohl said in announcing Connealy's hiring today.

Connealy said he would continue efforts to broaden the party's base of support across Nebraska.
