New Orleans Madam Claims Vitter was Once a Client

WDSU-TV aired a story Tuesday night on the New Orleans brothel owner Jeanette Maier. She says Vitter was once a client at her brothel and paid $300 an hour. With all of this going on, one sure loser will be the Republican Party, which was hoping to cash in on Vitter's star power in the upcoming elections. His clean-cut, family values image may never be the same on Capitol Hill following the admission of Senator David Vitter's apparent indiscretion. Back home, political observers are keeping a close eye on the national scene to see how the "Vittergate" scandal will play out. Political analyst Jim Engster says, "If it were going to be a garden-variety sex scandal, I think he would survive it. He may very well survive this, but this does have the potential of it being a crime." (end snip)
