Republican unity on Iraq to be tested

By CALVIN WOODWARD, Associated Press Writer 7 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Republican unity on Iraq, strained but so far holding, is coming under still more pressure in the Senate as lawmakers from both parties float proposals to get troops out soon.
....................
Democrats will try again this week to set a deadline for the reduction of U.S. forces in Iraq.

Lugar and Warner said their proposal asks that Bush start thinking now about different options and seek to boost diplomacy. They cited an over-stretched military and growing terrorist threats around the world.

But that does not mean an abandonment of a U.S. presence in Iraq, they said.

"This nation of ours has got to remain in that area," Warner said, pointing to the United States' "vital security interests" involving Middle East oil and relations with Israel.

I listened to Warner yestday------he was rather weak------my impression is that he thinks Bush will actually change.

1. I swear some of the more traditional republicans...
(fiscal conservatives, not rapture waiting, gay bashing, diaper wearing, woman-hating neo-cons) are like battered wives..."Maybe this time will be different"..."Maybe I can make him change"...Maybe I should send them all their own cycle of abuse wheel handouts?

2. Hey, Hey, Hey, I take exception
to your statement calling neo-cons "woman-hating." They do NOT hate women and they can prove that because they buy them at every opportunity when their wives won't find out.

3. I stand corrected...
they love women...as long as they will bear thier children, clean their houses...(unless they have an illegal immigrant to do it) and change their diapers (the Senator's, not the children;) )
