Bush policy to bequeath Iraq to successor
Source: Los Angeles Times

The president plans to end his term with a strong U.S. military in the country and leave the issue of exiting to his successor.

...The plans outlined by the U.S. commander in Iraq, Gen. David H. Petraeus, would retain a large force in the country -- perhaps more than 100,000 troops -- when the time comes for Bush to move out of the White House in January 2009.

..."Bush has found his exit strategy," said Kenneth M. Pollack, a former government Mideast specialist now at the Brookings Institution.

... Those issues most likely will be left for the next president, whose new job is looking tougher all the time.

I can't imagine bringing the troops home will be simple. There will undoubtedly be some unpleasant surprises when it happens.

Sounds like the next (Democratic) president will be taking all the heat and shoulder the responsibilities of the war while Bushy skips off scott free.

This was probably part of their plan all along (at least since the Democrats seemed likely to take the next presidency. )

1. Of course.
The next (Democratic) president will shoulder this responsibility.
Then they will absolutely have to raise taxes to pay for this monstrosity brought on by the (fiscally responsible, of course - they're Republican!) Bush administration.

Then the Rupub contenders for 2012 get to go on and on about those tax-n-spend liberals.

And somehow a large percentage of this country will buy this shit...

2. This notion
of Bush caring about what happens after 2008 hinges on his sanity or lack thereof. All his policies to date appear designed to bring about a military-financial-ecological holocaust to rival the end times predictions in the book of Revelations.

4. This will always remain Bush's war.....
no matter how he tries to sell it, no matter how they plan to slough it off on the next President, it will ALWAYS be Bush's war.

They most egregious foreign policy fuck up an American President has ever made. It's all his. Forever.

11. Has bu$hit the Narcissistic Twit EVER cleaned up ANY mess he's made...
... and let's face it every thing he touches he makes a MESS of it - and Poppy et al has always bailed him out. THIS TIME, the next President will clean up his steaming sh*tpile of a mess in Iraq.

The spoilt little frat brat would never clean up his OWN messes. Never has. Never will.

14. Payback time...
Some Republicans believe that Bush should leave the war to Hillary the way LBJ left the war to Nixon. One called it "payback time." That is the mindset of a lot of Republicans in this country. None of them cares that over a million Iraqis have been killed or that four million Iraqis are enjoying "freedom" somewhere else. Or that eventually it may be over a million Americans killed in a nuclear blast if this is not stopped. What's frightening is the number of Democrats who believe it will take a Democratic president to stop it. Bush may escalate it to the point that no one can stop it. We will be at war. A real war. A world war.

There was a mandate that went along with the Democratic victory last fall. A mandate ignored by Madame Speaker. Who apparently believes war is good if it guarantees the White House.

The blood of the innocent Iraqis is now on her hands as well as the blood of innocent Americans.
