Military: 3 U.S. soldiers killed in blast near their patrol in Diyala province

BAGHDAD: Three U.S. soldiers were killed Tuesday following an explosion near their patrol northeast of Baghdad, the military said.

The Task Force Lightning soldiers were killed and three others were wounded in Diyala province, the center of a series of U.S. operations against al-Qaida in Iraq and other militants.

The military statement announcing the deaths provided no more details and said identities of those killed were being withheld pending notification of relatives.

2. Who was it that said the other day that the price we are paying
in Iraq is 'cheap' or something to that affect. It was a republican asshole, that much I remember.

TIKRIT, Iraq – A Task Force Lightning Soldier died in
a vehicle accident in Nineveh province on Tuesday.

The incident is currently under investigation.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending
notification of next of kin and release by the
Department of Defense.

MND-B unit targeted by small arms fire attack
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO

BAGHDAD — A Multi-National Division-Baghdad Soldier
was killed during a small arms fire attack while conducting
combat operations in a southern section of the Iraqi
capital Sept. 18.

Soldiers in this unit continue to conduct aggressive attack
operations in order to deny and disrupt al-Qaeda terrorist
cells using this area as a support zone. Such operations
help reduce al-Qaeda’s influence on the local populace and
the overall threat of improvised explosive devices along
main routes.

The deceased Soldier’s name is being withheld pending
notification of next of kin and release by the Department
of Defense.
