Germany 'drops CIA extradition'

Germany has dropped a request to the US to extradite
13 suspected CIA agents accused of abducting a German
citizen, officials and media reports say.

A justice ministry official reportedly confirmed an article
in the German weekly Der Spiegel that said the US had
refused the extradition request.

A Munich court had ordered arrest warrants for 13
people in January.

The citizen, Khaled al-Masri, says he was abducted in
Macedonia in 2003 and flown to Afghanistan for
interrogation.

A spokeswoman for the justice ministry in Berlin told
the Associated Press news agency Germany had decided
against passing on to US authorities the extradition
demand of the prosecutors in Munich.

Germany allow us to base tens of thousands troops in their country, they make a simple request to try 13 rogue cia agents and bush give them the middle finger. Damn! I guess Angela Merkel get about as much respect as Al Miliki gets.

4. US blocks CIA extradition
Source: The Press Association

US authorities have informed Germany that they will not extradite 13 suspected CIA agents sought in the alleged kidnapping of a German citizen.

A Justice Ministry spokeswoman in Berlin confirmed a report in the weekly Der Spiegel that the US administration had said it would not hand over the group.

She said the ministry had, as a result, decided against passing on Munich prosecutors' formal request for their arrest to Washington.

The Justice Ministry last month sounded out US authorities' willingness to cooperate with legal proceedings against the suspected agents, sending a legal request that officials say is a common first step in dealing with international arrest warrants.

7. the problem is...
that the german intelligence service (BND) knew of this mistake in advance, long before el-Masri was released, and did nothing, in order to cover the US.

It's pretty embarrassing for the past and current government.
