Gasoline price highest since early August
Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The average price U.S. consumers paid for gasoline jumped 6.1 cents over the last week to the highest level since early August, the government said on Monday, reflecting record crude oil prices.

The national price for regular gasoline averaged $2.82 a gallon, up 62 cents from a year ago, the federal Energy Information Administration said in its survey of 900 service stations.

The much larger Lundberg industry survey of 7,000 gas stations nationwide showed self-serve regular unleaded gasoline rose almost a nickel over the last two weeks to $2.80 a gallon.

Consumers have not enjoyed declining gasoline prices that normally occur after the summer driving season, when fuel demand drops off.

1. And since......
the inflated prices of fuel and food ARE NOT included in the Social Security COLA allowance.......my 2.3% increase for next year is actually a net LOSS! :grr: Looks like I'll have more choices this year though. I can starve, freeze OR die from lack of medications now, thanks to the G.W. Bush "economic miracle". :puke:

Gasoline was $1.49 when Bush took office. 'Nuff said. :banghead:

2. Remember the Republicans screaming bloody murder when gas hit $1.50 during the Clinton years?
They were demanding hearings--to investigate the Clinton Administration, not the oil companies--and Bush and Cheney were whining about Clinton having no energy policy.

4. High gas prices are causing a recession
Heck, the republicans gave us plan D prescription drug plan, then came along with gas so high, all the money saved which wasn't that much, goes to the oil men, of which two are in the W.H.....Uncle Cheney and Duba Bush.
