(Schwarzenegger) not interested in U.S. Senate
Source: San Jose Mercury News

Anyone hoping for a juicy U.S. Senate contest in 2010 - Schwarzenegger vs. Boxer, anyone? - was likely disappointed in the governor's blunt answer when asked today if he would run for that job or for Los Angeles mayor.

"I have no interest in either," Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger told the annual meeting of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group in San Jose. He said the speculation was a ploy from the camp of Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-California, to whip up fundraising interest. He laughed about it, saying he didn't mind the speculation "If it makes Barbara Boxer happy to talk about this . . . 'Oh, that's Schwarzeschnitzel, he's after me! I've got to raise a lot of money!' "

8. Although being foreign born he isn't eligible.
If that little change to the Constitution takes place, we'll know Arnie's intention.

9. repubs were talking about just such a change a while back ... though i haven't heard it
come up recently... who knows, they might just wait to give us another October Surprise right before the 2008 elections...and pull some sort of stunt through which they can get what they want ... that is all they have been doing ever since the bush steal of the 2000 elections.

13. No. I have not even seen that movie ... I am thinking about how the Bushes run things behind the
scene; i am thinking about how i have heard on the television and even read in some polls a while back as to whether non-native born American Citizens should be given the right to run for the pResidency (all of this talk being Republican inspired) and, i am also thinking of Poppy's October surprise against Carter, his fear and smear campaign against Dukakis, his get-the-ball rolling on white water against the clintons, his salivating lust for power and control and the fact that now that he has it, through his son, and they are establishing a pro-fascist america ... it is not going to be easy for him to let go... if he wants the son of a fascist installed in the white house ... it will be so and no one will know that he was behind all of that.

poppy bush is capable of all of that, even without the movie Demolition Man.

12. It would only take one little amendment and Arnold would
have it. I don't doubt he would win in a landslide. People are stupid.

15. one "little" amendment isn't so little.
and when the repukes keep playing the 'immigration threat' card, it's going to be that much more difficult to sell the idea to their illiterati base.

3. Works for me! At least we have her to cancel out that damned dianne
feinstein. Hey, arnold, why don't you reconsider in five years when difi tries to win her own lease extension? I'd almost rather have a republi-CON who fairly frequently acts like a Dem than the other way around.

7. The Schwartzeschnitzel
You may not like his politics but you can't deny the guy his smarts. Why would he want the Senate when he's Governor of a state so rich that it should be in the G8. Why would he even want the presidency? The America we so recently knew is on its way out; American power in the future will be internationally wielded by that small handful of states that have real economic power. Arnold knows this -- which is why he's making Caleeefornya a global leader in environmental reform.

14. Welcome to DU!
I like that one! Der Schwartzeschnitzel. I think it was the late, great Molly Ivins who said he reminded her of a condom filled with walnuts. I CANNOT look at him any longer without seeing that. It's a perfect fit!

I'm just glad it protects Barbara Boxer. And I'm glad she's building a warchest already, regardless. This news came along at the exact time I was looking ahead and starting to get worried about it.

19. Maybe he's waiting for Feinstein's seat
After all, if your choices are between a Republican who sometimes acts like a Democrat, or a Democrat who increasingly acts like a Republican, which would you choose?
