Pat Robertson endorses Giuliani
Source: MSNBC

WASHINGTON - Pat Robertson, a prominent Christian leader and social conservative, endorsed Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, at a news conference this morning in Washington, D.C.

The former New York mayor backs abortion rights and gay rights, positions that put him in conflict with GOP orthodoxy, and has been trying to convince cultural conservatives to overlook their differences with him on those issues. That makes the support of a high-profile religious conservative like Robertson a particular boon.

Did hell freeze over?

Wow the religious right would rather vote for a homo lovin' abortion lovin' New Yorker before a Mormon. I love the division.

9. Yep.
I thought up a great bumpersticker for Pat: "I'm not a Christian, but I play one on TV."

5. It's simple, really...
A lot of the fundies (Dobson, et al) are trying to derail Giuliani. Robertson think he'll win, so he's taking the opposite approach; endorsing him so he can take credit if he wins.

10. All of the Evangelicals I know, and I know a lot of them....
will NEVER vote for Guilani. The will stay home on election day if that is there only choice. They would not vote for a pro choice candidate if their lives depended on it. The media may be portraying Guiliani as the "front runner" but he will never get any of the Christian Conservative Right Wing vote. Not in a million years. They only want Supreme Court Justices appointed that will overturn Roe v. Wade and prevent gay marriage from ever passing. If not for those two issues, most of them would not even bother to vote imo.

13. Urrrrgggghhhhh!!!
I'm a bit surprised Robertson would endorse Mr. 9-11; hasn't he had rather a lot of wives? It must mean that he's horribly right-wing. I'd have thought Robertson would go more for Brownback?

18. We can have fun with this.
Sounds like Pat Robertson has anointed Rudy as Christ's Chosen Apostle to the Evangelical Protestants.
It will be his duty to pick up and continue where Bush has left off.

A little Coleridge seems appropriate right now....

Anyone see the other two?

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

Six o'clock - TV hour. Don't get caught in foreign towers.
Slash and burn, return, listen to yourself churn.
Locking in, uniforming, book burning, blood letting.
Every motive escalate. Automotive incinerate.
Light a candle, light a votive. Step down, step down.
Watch your heel crush, crushed, uh-oh, this means no fear cavalier.
Renegade steer clear!
A tournament, tournament, a tournament of lies.
Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives and I decline.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

29. this has got to wake up the last of the final conscious moderate GOPers & independents
because you're right, it's all about money - no religious figure who blames gay people for 9/11 is going to endorse a guy that lived with an open gay couple and supports civil unions, unless it's only about money - because there's several other hardcore GOP candidates that are just as much gay haters (at least in rhetoric) as Pat is...

$HOW ME THE MONEY! is what this say...

37. Here again the right wing will be facing a dilemma:
One do they want the power or two will they stay with their beliefs.

Here is the dilemma they on the religious right face. If they vote for Rudy then they will be a hyprocrite. Pure and simple. Then afterwards they on the right can never question a democrat that is pro choice and for gay rights. They cannot call anyone on the left a "baby killer" because if they do then they must call Rudy a "baby killer" too.....

Oh I am sure those on the right can find a way to justify their voting for Rudy. But if I have learned anything and that is G-d knows the heart and if they vote for Rudy with the idea that their Saviour will forgive them then they are playing a dangerous game.

So the question remains will they on the right go after the power or stay with their beliefs?

Ben David
