Christian Coalition to bypass primaries
Source: USA Today

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — As Republican White House hopefuls tout endorsements from faith leaders, the once-powerful Christian Coalition of America will bypass the presidential primary contests entirely, the head of the South Carolina-based group said Thursday.

"We're going to be focusing on congressional races," president Roberta Combs told the Associated Press by telephone. "I think it's more important that we focus on the congressional races and getting more conservatives in office because that's who makes the laws that govern our land."

The conservative voting bloc is particularly important in early voting South Carolina, where one-third of Republican primary voters in 2000 described themselves as part of the white, religious right.

On Wednesday, the coalition's founder and televangelist Pat Robertson endorsed Rudy Giuliani. Robertson founded the coalition in 1998 as he ran for president, but severed ties in 2001.

1. They also need to concentrate their efforts
on trying to sell their sad tale that they are persecuted in America. Their efforts so far have failed miserably. Getting more constitution haters in office. That's the ticket to promote the welfare of the land of the free.

2. "part of the white, religious right"
They sure do make that sound menacing, don't they?

A group fighting to start wars and remove our rights at home. Yee haw!

3. Really, why would they care about the primaries?
The lemmings will fall in line and vote for the Repuke in the GE, regardless of who he is. So the primaries are largely irrelevant for them.

4. As a Christian on the left - I HATE their name
It's like they speak for all Christians with their bigotry, pro-war rhetoric, false teachings that amount to an Americanized suburban Jesus. Just check out Sojourners or Brian McLaren to see we are not all rightwing crazies. Jesus certainly wasn't. He was a revolutionary of the first order.

I hate it every time I see their name. GRRRRRRRRRRR.

5. Bravo
I love your attitude. The constitution haters sure love to flaunt their "christianity" don't they. And often in a tax exempt status. I don't believe they are powerful or influential, just incredibly noisy.

8. The CC just hasn't been as much fun to heckle since Ralphie Reed left.
But the upside is Ralphie Reed continues to entertain. Yeah!
