ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CBS News) ― Police say the government of Punjab province has issued a seven-day detention order against opposition leader Benazir Bhuttto.

Just like Musharraf promised Chimpy, and Chimpy has assured us that Musharraf "unnerstans" how serious all this is. I can't wait for Secretary of State Rice to come along and chirp how no one could have predicted that brutally repressive measures by an unpopular dictator might lead to insurrection or any bad stuff, so you can't really hold the Bush administration accountable for just sitting idly by while this slow-motion civil war boils over.

And wouldn't you just know it? I'll bet there are U.S. arms dealers who just happen to be in the vicinity with a few four-color brochures that might interest the opposition to Musharraf. After all, if there's going to be chaos anyway, why shouldn't some of George's pals get a little something out of it?
