Bhutto under house arrest ahead of planned protest

Pakistan's former prime minister Benazir Bhutto is under house arrest for the second time in four days, in an effort to prevent her from staging a cross-country political caravan to protest emergency rule in the country.

The government of Punjab province has issued a seven-day detention order against her.

Bhutto has been staying at the house of a legislator from her party who lives in Punjab province.

"She has been detained and she won't be allowed to come out," a police official told The Associated Press on Monday.
