Actress who played Klink's secretary on "Hogan's Heroes" dies

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The actress who played Colonel Klink's secretary and then married "Hogan's Heroes" star Bob Crane has died.

Scotty Crane tells the Los Angeles Times that his mother Sigrid Valdis died of lung cancer. She was 72.

Valdis played Hilda for five seasons. She married Crane on the set of Hogan's Heroes in 1970. The marriage lasted until Crane was murdered eight years later.

A movie called "Auto Focus" was made about the murder in 2002. Valdis was played by Maria Bello.

Crane says his mother was "very against" the movie because it had "a ton of untruths in it."

2. Their chemistry on the show was obvious

Their scenes together seemed more natural and spontaneous than you'd expect on TV.

It's a shame how he died and for what she went through, but lung cancer? That had to have been a terrible battle.

Pat Crane used to appear on Scotty's sketch comedy-radio parody radio program occasionally.

She had a great, self-deprecating sense of humor. :cry:
