Congressman’s 3 grandkids reported missing

DIAMOND BAR, Calif. - Authorities were investigating the disappearance Monday of three grandchildren of Southern California Rep. Gary Miller.

The children were reported missing at about 1:30 p.m. Monday from their Diamond Bar residence east of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said.

Investigators were looking into whether the children were taken by their “non-custodial mother,” said sheriff’s spokeswoman Deputy Aura Sierra, referring to a parent without custody rights.

Miller represents the 42nd Congressional District, which includes the communities of Diamond Bar, Brea, Chino and Chino Hills.

1. Cynicism time: What side is Miller on?
In all likelihood, it's just a case of "mother takes kids." On the other hand...

5. You can mention he's a rep and who he reps but not if D or R? It's
just part of the profile and not anymore important than mentioning that he's a representative in the House. But if suddenly a whole lot of House Dems got involved rather than repubs it would change the explanation. It's just part of reporting. Of course it's not important as far as the situation goes but definitely a point of interest

12. I am compassionate.
I hope the children are found and safely returned.

I'm just a smidge paranoid.

14. Conceivably.
Tinfoil hat (not advocating, just an example): If he was a Dem who was pressing for investigations of the WH, this might be retaliation. We all wonder what BushCo is holding over the heads of Pelosi, et.al. -- this might, then, be corroborating evidence. And in that case it certainly would be significant.

Anyway, since he's a republican, that theory goes nowhere. But it wasn't silly to ask.

10. it's never "just a case" of anything
this woman didn't bring back the kids to where she was supposed to

if it wouldn't screw up the kids, I'd say slap her ass in jail

11. We do not know the facts of this case.
so we do not know whether the representative used his power to deny the mother her rights or whether she was denied them for just cause. We do not know whether the dad is a good guy or an a-h**e. We just do not know. Nor do we need to. Kids now safe.

8. Why is this LBN?
The kids are safe, you'll find if you click through the link. This was a non-custodial-parent issue.

13. The data in the link changed.
Nobody was quite sure, initially. And that's why it's news.
