White House denies Bush misled McClellan on CIA leak
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) - White House spokesman Scott Stanzel denied accusations leveled at President Bush Tuesday by former Bush press secretary Scott McClellan. The accusations flow from an excerpt released from McClellan’s forthcoming book where he blames the president and other high-ranking White House officials for prompting him to “unknowingly pass along false information” as it related to the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame.

“The President has not misled his spokespeople, nor would he,” Stanzel said in a statement.

8. That's why I have built up an immunity to iocane powder.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Man in Black: All right. Where is the poison? The battle of wits has begun. It ends when you decide and we both drink, and find out who is right... and who is dead.
Vizzini: But it's so simple. All I have to do is divine from what I know of you: are you the sort of man who would put the poison into his own goblet or his enemy's? Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet, because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
Man in Black: You've made your decision then?
Vizzini: Not remotely. Because iocane comes from Australia, as everyone knows, and Australia is entirely peopled with criminals, and criminals are used to having people not trust them, as you are not trusted by me, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you.
Man in Black: Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.
Vizzini: Wait til I get going! Now, where was I?
Man in Black: Australia.
Vizzini: Yes, Australia. And you must have suspected I would have known the powder's origin, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
Man in Black: You're just stalling now.
Vizzini: You'd like to think that, wouldn't you? You've beaten my giant, which means you're exceptionally strong, so you could've put the poison in your own goblet, trusting on your strength to save you, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But, you've also bested my Spaniard, which means you must have studied, and in studying you must have learned that man is mortal, so you would have put the poison as far from yourself as possible, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
Man in Black: You're trying to trick me into giving away something. It won't work.
Vizzini: IT HAS WORKED! YOU'VE GIVEN EVERYTHING AWAY! I KNOW WHERE THE POISON IS!
Man in Black: Then make your choice.
Vizzini: I will, and I choose - What in the world can that be?
Vizzini:
Man in Black: What? Where? I don't see anything.
Vizzini: Well, I- I could have sworn I saw something. No matter.First, let's drink. Me from my glass, and you from yours.
Man in Black, Vizzini:
Man in Black: You guessed wrong.
Vizzini: You only think I guessed wrong! That's what's so funny! I switched glasses when your back was turned! Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...
Vizzini:
Buttercup: And to think, all that time it was your cup that was poisoned.
Man in Black: They were both poisoned. I spent the last few years building up an immunity to iocane powder.

10. Then why didn't they correct him?
For days on end, Scotty went out there claiming he didn't know anything, and that nobody in the White House knew anything. And nobody called the press in to say, "You know, what Scott said today at the gaggle isn't true. Here's the real story. Scott didn't know anything about this, so he wasn't lying; we just hadn't told him the truth."

But nobody did that.

Not after any of Scotty's lying little pressers.

Not after Scooter was designated as a target of the investigation.

Not when Scooter was indicted months later.

Not when Scooter went to trial months after that.

Not when Scooter was convicted weeks after that.

Not when Scooter was sentenced days later.

And not when Bush commuted Scooter's sentence right after that.

If Bush didn't "mislead" Scotty, someone sure did. And nobody came forth to correct the erroneous record. In fact, they (Scotty included) pretty much snarled at anyone who doubted the official story. Now that Scotty is saying he was lied to, now, finally, at long last, the White House is stirred to comment.

Well, I'm sure our bulldogs of the press, who are so vigilant that they report scandals that don't even exist in lurid detail, will be right on this episode, which smacks of misgovernance at best, and outright criminality viewed at a particular angle.

Right?

18. At any time an actual president could have put an end to it.
He could have called his staff in and demanded the truth instead of pretending to have a legal process, one which he nullified in the end anyway.

Remember that Cheney held dimson's hand and they went and met with Fitzgerald. They weren't under oath, but was there any burden to tell the truth then? I also recall some bizarre and under-reported remark bush made that indicated that he was the leaker, because at the time people here were calling him the leaker-in-chief.

It seems that all of Washington from congress to the press corpse is afraid to call the crime family out on what certainly appears to be a criminal conspiracy - one that has cost our country dearly.

14. Impeach, Prosecute and SAVE AMERICA!
Edited on Wed Nov-21-07 12:49 PM by Krashkopf
Good GOD, this is like hearing Nixon's White House tapes for the first time and learning that Tricky Dick was directly involved in the cover-up of Watergate.

For those of you not old enough to remember, it was NOT the Watergate break in that led to Nixon's resignation, it was his involvment in the cover-up.

This should be FRONT PAGE NEWS on every newspaper in the Country? Call you newspapers and ask them why they are burying the story (if they report it at all).

Call Speaker Pelosi, and House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, 202-224-3121, and DEMAND that McClellan be called before the Judiciary Committee to testify under oath, as to the President's and the Vice President's involvement, and, that impeachment be put ON THE TABLE!

Impeach, Prosecute and SAVE AMERICA!

Krash

How does he know now that he was lied to. Who revealed to him that the President and Vice president were in on the cover up since he left his post?

That is what I want to know.
