Publisher: McClellan doesn't believe Bush lied
Source: MSNBC

Former White House spokesman Scott McClellan does not believe President Bush lied to him about the role of White House aides I. Lewis Scooter Libby or Karl Rove in the leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity, according to McClellan's publisher.

Peter Osnos, the founder and editor-in-chief of Public Affairs Books, which is publishing McClellan's book in April, tells NBC from his Connecticut home that McCLellan, "Did not intend to suggest Bush lied to him."

Osnos says when McClellan went before the White House press corps in 2003 to publicly exonerate Libby and Rove, the problem was that his statement was not true. Osnos said the president told McClellan what "he thought to be the case." But, he says, McClellan believes, "the president didn't know it was not true."

Osnos says the quotes which appeared on the Public Affairs Books website were part of the roll out of the book catalogues for the spring printings. And he says McClellan had not finished the manuscript for the memoir yet and was working under deadline to have the book completed for the April publishing.

2. Funny how fast some people can backtrack once they've been threatened

by these criminals. The 'ol rear end tends to pucker up real tight when these people come after you. McClellan would have never lived long enough to testify before COngress anyway so it probably doesn't matter. No doubt he would be suicided and the story being he left his job because of "severe mental problems" and was extremely depressed ever since, or so the story would go.

6. ahah...
that was quick. The recanting ritual begins...

The President is ALWAYS out of the loop. If anything ugly happens, he was in Russia when it happened and he never was informed. He's always the dumb guy out.

If the President is always out of the loop on important things like CIA leaks from the administration, why have him as a president? Why not just deal directly with his underlings who, according to this theory of blame, are really the ones who know if they're telling the truth or not? We can't get Bush because he doesn't know...yet we're supposed to accord him the holy deference of commander-in-chief in charge of things.

A commander-in-chief who doesn't know things.

Bush in a sentence.

OR....

we don't believe the bullshit and call for his his impeachment

I'm going with option 2

8. And they claim that we're quick to cave in.
Is it normal to quote from a book that hasn't been completely written yet?

16. Not when the book's sale date is five months off
Edited on Thu Nov-22-07 11:19 AM by rocknation
And I'd think true neocons would be more inclined to see Scott as a traitor and reject the book.

The publisher can't possibly be so naive or incompetent as to think Scott's statement was benign. But Scott might be that vengeful.

By the way, WHY is the publisher doing all the talking? Scott can talk and write, obviously. Why isn't he explaining his OWN intentions?

I know there's no such thing as bad publicity, but this case might be the exception.
