Military Hailing Poll that Says Americans See Progress in Iraq
Source: AP

PENTAGON - The military says a new poll shows more Americans now think U.S. troops are making progress in Iraq.

A senior U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad acknowledges it's tough to get a good grasp on what exactly is happening in Iraq, but he says public perception is key. Rear Admiral Greg Smith tells AP Radio that the military has made a greater commitment to getting the story out. He says the American people's decisions and judgments are important in the nation's future relationship with Iraq.

And a spokesman for the Iraqi government says the sharp drop in violence across the country has helped. Ali al-Dabbagh says the decline is the "fruit of the sacrifice" of the American troops.

2. I think our troops should be proud of doing their best in a bad situation, under
a bad President and a bad policy. They deserve credit for bringing some order to Iraq. Unfortunately, it will prove pointless, and those who died gave up their lives for a lie, but...they're doing what we've asked of them with honor and competence.

Damned bitter fruit, and precious little return for such a sacrifice. If these people had an ounce of humanity they would feel such shame.

7. yea, more stupid spin, the media thinks we are really stupid.
this comment gets me:

And a spokesman for the Iraqi government says the sharp drop in violence across the country has helped.

probably because Blackwater has been told to be more indiscreet with their killings.

8. Media Hailing Further Evidence that Propaganda Affects Public Opinion
The press says a new poll shows more Americans now believe whatever they are told.

A senior Bush administration spokesman in Crawford acknowledges it's tough to get a good grasp on what exactly is happening in America, but public perception is key. Asst. Deputy Undersecretary of Propaganda Catapulting, Benny Fishal tells whoever cares to listen that the Bush administration has made a greater commitment to filling the airwaves with its talking points. He says the American people's decisions and judgments are mutable and easily manipulated.

And a spokesman for the AP says the sharp rise in Bush administration message saturation across the country has helped. Addie Damage says the increase is the "fruit of the sacrifice" of the American taxpayers.

9. Funny How They Left Out One Teensy Detail From Their Bombast
But the poll found that the "rosier view of the military situation in Iraq has not translated into increased support for maintaining US forces in Iraq". Some 54 per cent of Americans want the Pentagon to bring troops home, compared with 53 per cent in February.
