Clinton says wife's First Lady schedules out soon

Nov 29, 2007

Former President Bill Clinton told C-SPAN this week that he believes the long-inaccessible first lady schedules of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) will be released in January —- in the heat of the first presidential nomination contests. “I want to push the release of more, including the request for documents about Hillary’s time in the White House,” Clinton told C-SPAN’s Brian Lamb. “They’ll show how hard she worked on a wide variety of issues, and what she did in her travels around the world to advance America’s cause. So I’d like it if the records got out there.”

The interview, recorded Monday during a tour of the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Ark., is set to air at 8 p.m. Friday as part of C-SPAN’s Presidential Library Series.

The Republican National Committee has tried to make a cause celebre of the record issue, which came up at one of the presidential debates and reminds voters of some of the Clinton administration's controversies that her campaign would prefer be forgotten. The RNC contends the Clintons have been deliberately dragging their feet on making various caches of records public, but Clinton said that the release of the White House records is governed by the National Archives and that he has done nothing to block it.

“There was a request, I think, for all of Hillary’s schedules,” Clinton said. “And I think that’ll be out sometime in January. But someone literally has to review all that. I don’t think people understand how time consuming it is.” In fact, Clinton maintained, he has “worked to release more records more quickly than anybody else.” “I want this stuff out there. 2. Now how about all those redacted 7-figure contributions?
I could not care less about Hillary's schedule.

A simple glance at some archived articles from the 90s could tell me what her schedule was.

I want to know how they get all those "generous" contributions to the Clinton Library, and where they came from.

5. Libraries don't strike me as
temptations to steal lots of money.

Who cares who gave? If a bad person gave to a good cause that's great.

6. It depends how the money is used
For instance, can they use a large piece of it to put together a compelling video on the many accomplishments of the First Lady?

4. funny how he just said
he's been working hard to get them out much quicker than anyone else has in the past. But, hey, if you want to hate on the Clintons no matter what, go for it.
