Oregon pollster denies running illegal poll in NH (Repubs)
Source: AP

Associated Press - January 5, 2008 9:25 AM ET

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - An Oregon polling company for Republican candidates says it did nothing wrong in a telephone poll being investigated in New Hampshire.

Attorney General Kelly Ayotte is trying to figure out if Moore Information in Portland crossed the line to a form of campaigning known as "push polling."

The company said yesterday that the poll was a standard survey conducted with accepted methodology and a scientific sample size. The company that Moore Information hired to actually take the poll also said it did nothing illegal.

But Ayotte wants to know who commissioned the poll in the first place and has issued subpoenas for the information. She wanted the information out before Tuesday's primary, but a judge in Oregon scheduled a hearing for a week after the vote.

1. They should check past campaign filings to
see if any of the candidates have used "Moore Information Systems". And then determine when the next campaign filing has to be made and check the records.

5. There are against certain types of polling...
In this case; push polling.

Example: "Would you be more or less likely to vote for Candidate 'XYZ' if you know that this particular candidate fathered a child out of wedlock?"
