Clinton disses Bush stimulus plan

<snip>

"Based on press reports I don’t think it does enough," she said during an economic roundtable at a unionized printing company east of the Strip this morning "It talks about giving direct payments, which is good, I'm for that… it leaves out 50 million working Americans -- people who are on fixed income, seniors, it doesn't impact people who are making (less than $30,000 per year) – they are left out. I think we can do better than that."

She didn't, however, say if she would support or oppose it when it comes before the Senate -- or even if she'll drop off the trail to vote on the measure, which is expected to garner broad bipartisan support and be rushed to the floor.

So Bush wants to give money to folks to stimulate the economy - except he leaves out those who are on fixed income like seniors, and it doesn't impact people who are making less than $30,000 per year - How did I know it would be designed that way?

And nothing on mortgages that are going to reset and destroy communities.it To say it falls short of Hillary's $110 billion economic proposal, which includes a five-year interest rate freeze and $40 million in emergency tax relief, and which Hillary has said could grow to $150 billion is the downturn worsens, is to minimize how inadequate the Bush/Snow idea is. But then I am surprised there was not a "make tax cuts for the rich permanent" solution proposed.

1. 800 dollars is not going to solve anything
really, for people who are in financial straits, it's not going to help much at all.

6. But the Pelosi Democrats have passed War Bill after War Bill to the tune of over a HALF-TRILLION.
That is 4-5 times what is now being trumped as a "stimulus package."

How about funneling all of that money to Americans instead of to Halliburton and the War Criminals?

12. Hillary is really qualified on the economy, Obama as a community
organizer has many strengths but running the economy is not one. I switched to Hill when I listened to their ideas on the economy. She is really smart on this topic which is so important. Looks like Edwars, my favorite, may not make it to the top.

16. But..
When she starts talking about people making less then 30k she is spot on because I won't get crap out of this proposed stimulus... What they need to do is give low income people a chance to get out of debt.. maybe some moratorium on interest rates (Which are raping me BTW)... Who gives a crap about people making hundreds of thousands they can maybe give up a starbucks visit or two or a Krispy Kreme donut... Me I need something to get my situation straight... How about a living wage for starters... I think being employed times x number of years should start counting as a subsidy in other words if I worked for 17 years straight different jobs but never took welfare then my living wage should be adjusted by the Federal Government to help me subsidize my household expenses... i.e., someone just starting to work should be paid based on skill yes but subsidized no ... once they put time in if they do not make a good living wage they should get a govt subsidy...
