Paul campaign: NV GOP caucus in chaos
Edited on Fri Jan-18-08 07:53 PM by ursi
Source: Reno Gazette Journal

The Ron Paul 2008 campaign is calling on the Nevada State Republican Party to re-examine what it calls "multiple inconsistencies in the Nevada Caucus process," and is asking to postpone the caucus, which is scheduled for tomorrow.

“The inconsistencies, errors and multiple changes in the rules reek of playing politics with what should be a neutral process,“ said Ron Paul 2008 campaign manager Lew Moore. “The people of Nevada deserve to know exactly what the rules are and to know that those rules are being fairly enforced. This has not happened up to this point, and the caucus appears to be in chaos.“

The campaign said they were concerned about reports of Nevada Republicans receiving postcards with incorrect caucus location information, and the fact that the Nevada GOP website had incorrect caucus locations listed as late as Jan. 16.

I got a robo call that if I am a Ron Paul supporter, show up at GOP polls at 9:30 am tomorrow.

About two hours later, I got another robo call saying that time was not correct, it's at 8:30 am.

Crazy!

2. A third party run by Ron Paul is the best that we could hope for;
Let him be the Ross Perot of this election.

6. He appeals to me also;
However a pure libertarian administration would never work, I feel that government should be a safety net. What I like about him is that his message appeals to Repub's and would split the vote.

11. Just say NO to Paul.
Paul's wrong on central banking, the Fed, and the return to a Gold Standard for one major reason.

Depressions under Gold Standard: 8
Depressions under fiat money: 0

22. Ron Paul's use of the phrase "states' rights" should strike any
right-minded person as little better than Trent Lott's panegyric for Strom Thurmond, since "states' rights" is exactly what dear little Stommer boy campainged on in 1948 as a Dixiecrat.

The only way I will vote for Paul

12. You have to watch out...
He might end up peeling away from Obama supporters as well, should he get the nomination.

14. Strictly an observation. Ron Paul's Libertarian message is
popular in Nevada. I was in the Las Vegas suburbs over Christmas and Ron Paul signs were abundant. I'm sure the powers that be are trying to derail him, but caucus goers there could produce a strong showing for him.

15. Yep, that Ron Paul message is so popular in Nevada he's polling 7.3%
I can see why he wants the election postponed. It would be like a stay of execution.

Let's see how that groundswell of grasroots support has been working for the Ron Paul Revolution so far:

Iowa: 10%
New Hampshire: 7.7%
Michigan: 6.3%

16. Whether people actually turn out is something else, of course,
but no denying the support for him was apparent in Nevada. His signs were all over the place there.

18. One or two people can put up hundreds of signs on public right of way
Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 01:33 PM by Lasher
Did you ever watch CSPAN when they were taking viewer calls and every other person seemed to be a Paul supporter? There is a small but enthusiastic, even frantic, number of Ronbots who do whatever they can to keep his name out there. Primary election returns and all reputable polls to date consistently confirm there are few people who are foolish enough to follow this Pied Piper to his tax-free Shangri-La.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/republican_presidential_nomination-192.html

I'm sure when he gets less than 8% of the vote in Nevada that will be due to a conspiracy against him, or because the multitudes of Paulards went in their droves to vote for someone else for some strange reason.

Edit to add: No hostility directed at you. I don't think you are a Ronbot.

21. I think Paul is a POS. The signs I saw were on
numerous front lawns in residential neighborhoods. Also quite a few stickers on cars. He's either popular there or those few Ronbots are going around sticking signs on other people's cars and property.

23. OK check it out
Here's a website where you can watch the GOP returns come in:

http://www.nvgopcaucus.com/results

And here's where you can check out the Democratic candidates:

http://www.nvdems08.com/

It will be fun to see just how smart or stupid I am. Early reporting is putting me in the stupid category since I anticipated Paul would get 8% or less.

But we'll see. If I end up being right you will probably worship me.
