'Rambo' backs Republican John McCain in White House race
Source: Times of India

25 Jan 2008, 0309 hrs IST,AFP

WASHINGTON: Rambo is lining up with Republican hopeful John McCain in the battle for the White House.

"I like McCain a lot," said US actor Sylvester Stallone, who plays the Rambo screen hero, as he threw his support behind McCain, who is taking a lead in the race for the Republican Party's presidential nomination.

Hard on McCain's heels though is Mike Huckabee, already backed by Chuck Norris the actor who plays the Texas Ranger in the hit television series.

Stallone said of McCain, a Vietnam war veteran who spent more than five years as a prisoner of war, that "there's something about matching the character with the script."

"And right now, the script that's being written and reality is pretty brutal and pretty hard-edged like a rough action film, and you need somebody who's been in that to deal with" it.

Norris would probably win for two reasons
1. He'd start by blinding stallone with his teeth

and then

2. he'd catch him with a round house kick to the head that no one ever seems to see coming but he does all the time

7. I give stallone a little more of a pass than sandler
Stallone has always been a republikkan and he's not really that smart. Plus his movies REALLY suck

With sandler, he's supporting Guliani because Guliani is a Yankees fan.

At least with Stallone it's more substantive. Sandler's reasoning is just assanine.

32. Yeah, there is a big difference between the conservative and the liberal movie audience
The conservatives are looking for heroic characters, and they want the actor to be just like the character in real life. They don't rate actors based on acting ability - they rate them according to the likability of the character they play. Because of this, the conservative action hero actors can make a lot of money playing the same role over and over again, and most of them don't have the ability to play a wide range of characters anyway, so they are satisfied with that.

The liberals are looking for good acting performances and all-around good movies. They tend to rate the actors by how well they can act the character. It is assumed by liberal audiences that a good actor is going to want to try out different roles. A good liberal actor would get too bored playing the same role over and over, especially if they have the skill to play a variety of roles.

For the most part, it is the *liberal* audience that supports movie-making, but their demands on variety and quality are much higher. There would be few, if any, independent films made if not for liberal actors and audiences.

29. "Juiced" Stallone who got busted for smuggling Human Growth Hormone contaband into Australia
Another paragon of moral turpitude, as well as a typical chickenhawk puke phony.

On February 16, 2007, Stallone flew into Sydney, Australia as part of his promotional tour for Rocky Balboa.<13> Upon landing he was searched by Australian Customs officials, who found 48 vials of the human growth hormone (HGH) Jintropin in his personal luggage. As a result of this, he was charged one count of importing a prohibited import. The hormones are banned under the Australian Customs Act and are not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. In a court hearing on May 15, 2007, he pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing a controlled substance. On May 21, 2007 he was formally convicted of importing restricted muscle-building hormones into Australia and ordered to pay more than $9,870 in fines and court costs.<14>

As a result of the controversy within Australia, Stallone banned the Australian media from attending the Los Angeles premiere of the film.

50. maybe mccain wants to use a clip from one of stallone's early movies:
"Stallone made his film debut with the lead in a 1970 hardcore pornographic film, Party at Kitty and Stud's. He was paid US$200 for two days work. Scenes of sexual penetration were edited out on later releases of the film designed to cash in on Stallone's fame. These releases were re-packaged under the names of Italian Stallion (taken from Stallone's nickname and a line from the film) and Cocky (a pun on Rocky)."

54. McCain will win?
John McCain has many admirable qualities, but ...

1) He's aggressively pro-war;

2) He loses his temper easily. Should Hillary become the Democratic candidate, she will have him tied up in knots within a week. (With Obama, it may take two weeks.)

And a lot of Republicans hate him with a passion approaching that of Clintonphobia -- he dissed our Wise and Courageous Maximum Leader, our Commander-In-Chief and Jesus' Best Buddy, Bush the Younger.
