Congressman Kucinich On The Impeachment Of President George Bush

Washington, Jan 28 - Today, Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) released the following statement:

"After making a statement on the floor of the House of Representatives last week indicating my intent to introduce articles of impeachment against George W. Bush, I met with members of the Judiciary Committee. After that brief meeting, I am hopeful there will be an inquiry by the Judiciary Committee. I will give them the opportunity to proceed before introducing articles of impeachment."

2. Mm-hmmm....
more things for me to chuck in that pile...the ones where the Dem Congress goes after accountability. I love ya, DK, but geeze...it's better that "we" don't make all of these pronouncements if nothing comes to pass. The result seems to be that nobody will then pay any attention.

3. A Democratic Judiciary Committee has had, what, three years to investigate impeachment?
I don't know exactly who talked Kucinich out of proceeding, but he or she must be one helluva silver tongued devil.

Or, maybe now that DK has four Dems gunning for his seat, he has decided that he has other priorities?

15. I don't understand the three years reference.
Leahy became the Chairman again in January of 2007. Before that it was under the control of Arlen Specter since January of 2003.

What known evidence was there for impeachment in 2001-2002?

19. Simple wishful thinking on my part.
I was thinking that the Dems retook Congress in '04 instead of '06.

So, it's only been a little over a year they could have brought charges.

A year under Bush just seems like three to me.

9. Must have been a very promising meeting.
Dennis has a solid record of not caving to blackmail, bribes, or threats. Or falling for BS.

This sounds like good news to me.

13. Me too!

It will be a test to see if there is still any hope that the whole congress has not been somehow compromised or intimidated.

It sure seems that many of our supposed representatives have an agenda which ignores what is best for the country and us, the citizens.

If nothing happens this week in the committee than I, and you all, will know absolutely and for sure that we are surely doomed to descend further into a fascist state.

11. I assume not many here are surprised right?
After all how many presidents were successfully impeached and removed from office? Answer none.
Varies reasons for each of course but still in my opinion the impeachment ability is badly flawed and perhaps we need to replace it with the ability for the citizens to recall a president.
After all if they can do it in california to a sitting governor why not to the president of the united states.
Heck why not to all of those in any office that has a term greater than 2 years.

14. Hmmm Gotten To?
I really hope not. Dennis is a person of principles, so his giving in to the judiciary committee seems a bit odd to me. Well, we shall see.
