DC Madam possibly commits suicide in Tarpon Springs
Source: MyFox Tampa Bay

TARPON SPRINGS - Police were called to the home of DC Madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey's mother on Thursday to investigate a suicide.

Police would not confirm that the dead person is Palfrey - only that it is a white woman in her 50's. Palfrey is 52.

From the OP's link:

"She was convicted on Tuesday of money laundering, using the mail for illegal purposes and racketeering, but she had not yet been sentenced.

There has been much speculation in the media about who was on Palfrey's client list, but few details came out during the trial."

Alex Jones has a recording of her saying during a radio interview that she would not commit suicide.

She said: "No, I'm not planning to commit suicide. I plan on exposing the government in ways I don't think they want..."

Unfortunately she knew too much and had to be dealt with.

50. This article says that one of her employee "committed suicide" too!
http://www.wral.com/news/national_world/national/story/2821044/

One of the escort service employees was former University of Maryland, Baltimore County, professor Brandy Britton, who was arrested on prostitution charges in 2006. She committed suicide in January before she was scheduled to go to trial.

Last year, Palfrey said she, too, was humiliated by her prostitution charges, but said: "I guess I'm made of something that Brandy Britton wasn't made of."

Why would this tough madam kill herself after being convicted? I don't believe it. This is way too convenient. And it reminds me of the Enron employee who committed suicide right before he was supposed to give a deposition. Rotten, rotten, rotten.

Let this unfold and then make your comments.

Lastly, let's not forget, this was a person who was most likely victimized throughout her life and paid for it while the Vitters of the world walk free.

It's idle gossip and rumormongering and it makes a bunch of intelligent people look foolish and like those they profess not to be like.

74. Not at all.....
I'm trying to get people who are screaming "murder" to see how foolish they look at this point in the investigation. The time for judgment will come when more information is needed.

As for "compassion" - look at some of the posts here and it's obvious where it is not found. Which is pretty disappointing when so many DUers at one point really liked this woman when it meant she was taking down hypocritical conservatives.

76. Sometimes the "screaming" of "conspiracy theorists" is the only thing that brings out the truth.
When I review the long list of lies that the media has knowingly perpetrated over the past seven years alone, I feel no confidence that inconvenient facts will ever emerge about this case. Perhaps the only people who will ever pay attention will be conspiracy theorists screaming on an internet board.

79. I'm also inclined to think she committed suicide
She seemed genuinely shocked when she got convicted.
Facing 50 years in prison would send anyone into a downward spiral.
It was already pretty evident she wasn't going to reveal any names or she would have done so before being convicted.
It wouldn't have helped her any to reveal them after being convicted.
So how is she really a danger to anyone?
Of course, someone might have perceived her as a danger anyway, so it's possible she was murdered, but it seems unlikely to me.

107. Maybe it's because of this:
"No, I'm not planning to commit suicide. I plan on exposing the government in ways I don't think they want..."

Nah, no possible conspiracy to it at all :sarcasm:

(By the way, the sort of conspiracy we're discussing is an actual crime called 'conspiracy to commit murder' hand-in-hand with 'murder in the first degree'. If you think that sort of conspiracy has never occurred, please, I beg of you, go read a newspaper. We have conspiracy laws regarding such things for very good reason. This honestly does come across, on first blush, given this woman and what she undoubtedly knew, as a textbook case of such a crime.

Cue the "Law & Order" DUN-DUN. It's really that fraking obvious.)

61. For your information...it is not uncommon...
for people who commit suicide to leave more than one note. Often times people will right numerous notes - to parents, children, friends.

Also, it is even more common for people NOT to leave suicide notes.

60. Sheesh don't jump to the conspiracy conclusion so quickly. She just found out she would be spending
a LOT of time in prison. I believe she was facing close to 20 years (the federal system does not have parole so she would have served close to 17 years) which would mean she would likely die there. In her place, I'd have seriously considered suicide myself.

Certainly it should be investigated, but my goodness, just about every response to this news is alleging that she was murdered.

and a society that jails people who provide sex services then gives medals and accolades to those who murder hundreds of thousands for corporadoe coffers and glory. It leaves one with a question: Is sex for money worse than murder???

A society that chews its nails to the nub over an embryos future and remains mum about millions of children starving due to its capitalist wars for resources is one fucked up society. This fucking society (The US) is so goddamn warped in its values it makes me puke on a regular basis. Its a big exercise in hypocrisy on every level.

What a fucking MESS!!

It goes on and on and on with no remedy, no remorse, nothing but a fucking cathode ray shithouse full of phony images of idiotic sit-coms interspersed with erectile dysfuntion and pantie commercials.

Fuck! Palfrey was a hero. How many people with erectile dysfunction were cured by her?

All I want to see now is Blowback. That would be justice served!

she made money turning girls into whores so she could collect the money from politicians who sold out the middle class to lobbyists for multinational corporations

if she was murdered, she was likely blackmailing some of the most evil and dangerous people in the country for her own power game - not the safest hobby

84. Certainly suspicious, but it could be a legit suicide.
There are valid arguments for both possibilities.

If the crime scene photos happened to leak out, that might solve it. Coroner's reports can be falsified.

and his "receptionist", a male mind you, responded with "he has repented for his sins" when I asked for his resignation for being a whore monger, I wonder if he still held a grudge against the Madam? Or if his wifey did, you know, the one in the revealing dress.

98. Don't read too much into this document
I wouldn't read too much into this document. It was prepared by her lawyers prior to sentencing, so it's going to contain all sorts of emotional appeals to try to get leniency.

After all, if she was that distraught over that charge and the possible consequences in 1991, why would she then go and set up an even bigger prostitution ring in DC?

Think about it for a second. If you committed a small crime and the thought of being punished for it made you think about killing yourself, would you then go out and commit an even bigger crime? That doesn't make any sense at all.

110. Looks like a lynching to me.
I am serious. The woman had no cause to be committing suicide.

This woman was in no position to kill herself, not right now, not before she had her day in court. People can speculate all they want, but in the end, someone murdered her because she had too much scandalous knowledge and must be destroyed!

115. Why don't all these "suicide" victims place copies of their info/evidence
in secure places with instructions for the info to be revealed if the victim meets any untimely death?? And let it be KNOWN that they've done that -- at least the thugs would have to think twice before offing them, and the operation would be a little more complicated.
