McCain fields audience question on whether he called wife an expletive
Source: Des Moines Register

A member of the audience at the Polk County Convention Complex asked about a rumor that McCain had once used a profane word referencing female genitalia to describe his wife.

Here's a transcript:

Audience member:
This question goes to mental health and mental health care. Previously, I've
been married to a woman that was verbally abusive to me. Is it true that you
called your wife a (expletive)?

McCain:
Now, now. You don't want to... Um, you know that's the great thing about
town hall meetings, sir, but we really don't, there's people here who don't
respect that kind of language. So I'll move on to the next questioner in the
back.

Leave it to Iowans to know how to questions presidential candidates. The media wouldn't touch it, so we will ... again and again until he answers it. Notice that he did not deny it, did he?

And politely give too.

That could have been his answer/non-answer...

6. Why?
If the man abuses his wife verbally, is he fit for the job? It was a documented assault on his wife. I think it is very important for him to admit or deny.

21. Just being funny.
I could see McCain being asked about expletives and denying it while at the same time telling the reporter to fuck off.

What language he uses in his marriage is not relevant, in my opinion. We've been down a similar road with another of our recent Presidents.

8. I read about it in salon.com
Edited on Thu May-01-08 03:32 PM by RaRa
it's still on rawstory.com

"Three reporters from Arizona, on the condition of anonymity, also let me in on another incident involving McCain's intemperateness. In his 1992 Senate bid, McCain was joined on the campaign trail by his wife, Cindy, as well as campaign aide Doug Cole and consultant Wes Gullett. At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain's hair and said, "You're getting a little thin up there." McCain's face reddened, and he responded, "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cunt." McCain's excuse was that it had been a long day. If elected president of the United States, McCain would have many long days."

If he were a Democrat, the Repukes would be all over this. Plus, they would questions whether his experiences in Vietnam make him mentally fit to handle the presidency.

14. That should be worth 3 weeks of cable news questions.
Imagine if it were Obama? I'm betting that the media narrative would be, "Is Obama fit to be President?" Can you hear Joe, Pat, Chris, Tim, and Tucker yammering on this, ad infinitum? Instead, we get nothing from the Republican corporate news networks.

30. Actually, if he was part of the "Straight Talk" scenario he says he
is, he would have answered the question, and apologized.

In essence, by his very non-answer, he still considers his initial remark about his wife to be valid.

20. If you google the word in question, the story comes up as hit number three.
The word being the one that starts with the letter "C."

However, it doesn't come up as a top hit if you search for the word "Trollop."

In McCain's defense though, it is possible he was in a bad mood because Cindy McCain had stolen his pills again.

29. One story talks about a mans temper and temperament towards women the other talks about
a man's friend or associate and his temperament or temper.

That's the difference.

Not that McCain can talk about substance. HE HAS NONE.

At least none that he can sell to the public. We saw how well that worked for him in Michigan.

because we've all said things we regret when we're mad, I am glad people are calling out McCain with the same BS questions they are sending at Obama and Clinton.

33. I have used every word...
you can imagine, and several I bet you couldn't even imagine.... Marine Corps trained.

BUT... I have never called any woman the C word.

1. I respect women too much.

2. My momma would come back from the grave and dope-slap me blind.

3. My first wife would have killed me... to little pieces.

4. Me wife would wait until I was asleep... and then kill me to little pieces.

5. I don't like the word... I've always thought it was too harsh for the wonderful organ involved.

If McCain actually called her that, he has told me a LOT more about himself than he knows.
