Dean: GOP uses ‘hate’ and ‘race baiting’ to win
By Klaus Marre
Posted: 05/04/08 12:06 PM

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said Sunday that Republicans are using “hate and divisiveness” to win elections.

Dean argued that the use of Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) former pastor Jeremiah Wright in GOP ads in local races is “race baiting.”

“When you start bringing up things that have nothing to do with the candidate and nothing to do with the issues, that’s race baiting,” Dean said on Fox News Sunday in response to a question whether the Wright issue and his ties to Obama hurt Democrats down ticket.

“There’s a lot of difference between the Republicans and the Democrats on issues, but the biggest issue of all is we don’t use this kind of stuff. We never have used this kind of stuff, and we’re not going to start now,” said the DNC chairman. “America is more important than the Republican Party, and that’s the lesson that the voters are about to teach the Republicans.”

In response, Republican National Committee Chairman Mike Duncan said that “voters are looking for strong leadership that has a positive vision to move us forward, but also recognizes the very real challenges we face by putting forward common sense solutions that grow our economy and protect our nation.”

5. "Democrats" do use race baiting
Edited on Sun May-04-08 11:30 AM by katerinasmommy
It's been a major element of the Clinton campaign. They count on it. Ed Rendell pretty much openly says it. They argue that as the reason not to nominate Obama. They'd rather have racists vote for them and win rather than lose honorably. Folks, it doesn't get lower than that.

30. Huh?
How do you figure? The one thing that is POISON to the Obama campaign is being seen as the "Black" candidate. They didn't want to have that discussion in a million years. It was Bubba Clinton that brought it up, and Hillary continues to use it. Along with, of course, the lie that Obama is a Muslim. He isn't one, "as far as I know"

10. Did anyone watch "Meet the Press" this morning??
Edited on Sun May-04-08 12:17 PM by addreamgirl
For the first 20 minutes of the program, Tim Russert kept grilling Obama on the Wright "issue", and his patriotism. Russert even repeated some of Wright's comments about race, and white supremacy - it was race-baiting at its finest.

The fact that Obama hasn't yet jumped across a table in order to pummel one of these corporate-owned mouthpieces like Russert is a testimony to his cool and grace under pressure. Unlike McCain, we won't have to worry about Obama pushing the nuclear button in a fit of temper.

Speaking of McCain, there was a moment in the interview when Obama tried to discuss McCain's policies, and Russert changed the subject in less than a nanosecond.

The MSM is so transparent in its manipulation and propoganda - I don't understand how so many people cannot see that! :banghead:

You're right - it was more than 20 minutes before Timmeh got to a real subject. Obama did an excellent job.

15. Anyone know if Dean can be nominated as candidate for VP?
I don't know if there's a history of a party-head running on a presidential ticket. Does he just have far too much responsibility in his present position to run for office? Has he put a structure in place that would allow his nation-wide policies to keep running without him being directly at the helm? I love Howard Dean, and I wish he'd run for president this time around, but I honestly think that he'd make a great VP as well - in fact, he seems to be the kind of guy who would do a great job at whatever he chooses to become involved with.

16. We use it. We just don't base our entire campaign off of it like they do.
They use it as a trojan horse to impoverish and murder. It's more of a tangential, implicit thing with us (like Bill Clinton's tough on welfare and crime rhetoric).

our President and knowing corporate media destroyed him with something so small and petty as the intrepid corporate media phonying up and magnifying the dean scream, disappearing all the crowd screaming with him and playing on a loop 24/7.

25. Hats off to Howard Dean.....here's FINALLY a man who won't take bullshit with a smile...
We shouldn't be so impressed when a politician calls these corrupt and deceptive propaganda networks on their twisting of the truth and all out lies; it should be the norm!!

Howard Dean is a man of character, who isn't about to take the bullshit that wallace, or any other shill dishes out. He is assertive enough to slap him, figuratively of course, across the face and smile and say "thank you for inviting me". He even smiles when wallace tells him not to be a stranger....lol. (I'd bet it will be awhile before wallace invites him back for another good "bitch slap".)

27. And the Clintons haven't?
What hypocrisy - the Clinton campaign has engaged in the very thing but then, well, as Nancy Pelosi put it with regard to "Travelgate" lack of ethics is somehow different when the sleazeball is a Democrat rather than a Republican. Not different at all. What she meant to say is when the party in power does something it is somehow less ethical.

Same old, same old. And people keep waving their little partisan flags. Not realizing everyone is following the same Pied Piper and will drown in the same river. While their Pied Piper stands on the bank laughing at them. And shooting the bird.
