McCain Says He Did Vote For George W. Bush
Source: ABC News

ABC News' Jan Simmonds and Jennifer Parker report: Heightening a he-said she-said brouhaha, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., today disputed liberal blogger Arianna Huffington's assertion that the presumptive Republican nominee voted against George W. Bush during the 2000 election.

"It's nonsense," said McCain, whose campaign has suggested Huffington made up the story to promote her new book. Huffington, a former Republican, supports the presidential campaign of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.

...

Two other guests at Bergen's party, former "West Wing" actors Bradley Whitford and Richard Schiff, have come forward this week in the media to say that they, too, heard McCain say he didn't vote for Bush.

Campaigning today in New Jersey, McCain disputed the story.

"I voted, campaigned for, worked as hard as I could for President Bush's election in 2000 and 2004," McCain told reporters. "I voted for President Bush, I said so at the time. I know we're already in silly season, but my record stands very clearly of campaigning all over this nation on behalf of the candidacy of President Bush."

McCain also admonished the media.

"In all due respect, this is all not worth our time ...this happened eight years ago."

25. i don't see a flip flopper
Isn't a flip flopper a person who makes a claim and then backtracks? I don't remember McCain claiming not to have voted for Bush.

4. McCain...a straight shooting lying republican. Hopefully, more come
forward saying they heard McCain say he didn't vote for Bush. We need a story that McCain must deny at all cost just for the fun of it.

21. A small handful of them would be superb! Not so many as to start pissing people
off and building sympathy for him, but maybe just a few signature items selected, say, for really relevant, significant matters to the voters this fall: A) the economy and how he swam against the little guy's current in any number of ways; B) the war and how he was for it before he was against it.

CRITICALLY IMPORTANT to hijack the republi-CONS' standard sloganeering and making some of their biggest "kill" lines turn 180-degrees on them. "He was for it before he was against it." Remind you of anything they shoved down our throats and up our butts for MONTHS - back in 2004? "Are you better off now than you were four/eight years ago?" st. ronnie force-fed that to all of America when he ran successfully against Jimmy Carter.

It would be a STELLAR way to steal their thunder; pervert their message and their message attempts; and pull another fang out of their gums, giving them less to bite us with and draw blood. When you render one of their key weapons or their most shrewd or effective lines neutered, when you appropriate it for yourself and give it a makeover so it begins to mean something completely different than its original intent, you've robbed the enemy of yet another weapon (ESPECIALLY one of their faves, one that worked against us really well and made a big impact and is still memorable).

What it also does on a subconscious level is to let the air out of the tires on what slogans like these applied to originally. Yeah, ronnie - YOUR wonderful reaganomics - that steered our economy down Deterioration Drive to the dead end we're in now. Yeah, swiftboaters. Your precious this time was for the war before he was against it. But which part of it was he for or against? Do we even know? Does HE even know? Besides, ANYTHING that originally was for the war is a big loser now. Automatic points off for your side of the record sheet. Let hindsight be our friend here. ANYTHING they asserted back then - to which we can A) turn it on its ear and shove it back in their faces and B) ask the question "SOOOOooo, how's that workin' out for ya, 'eh?" - is a WINNER.

Imagine being a dentist from Hell and the GOP is in your chair and you've got the plumber's pliers and you're yanking teeth out, one-by-one...

By the time we're finished, the GOP will have as many teeth to chomp with as john mcsame does after he's deposited his in a glass on the nightstand.

(sorry... )

Hey, I never signed any pledge to wage a nice, clean, courteous campaign that stays above the belt - any more than most of mcsame's many surrogates have.

AND WHILE I'M AT IT, here's another one, courtesy my rawther brainy, ingenious, and devilishly clever husband came up with: mcthuselah. For the age thing. SO cool I WISH I could say I thought it up!

Use it and have fun!!!

recall the Keating Five? And of course, it's AOK to discuss who Obama met when he was 8 yeas old!

She brilliantly put him in a no-win situation.

Either he did not vote for GWB, showing him to the GOP base as the disloyal unprincipled non-Conservative they fear he is;

or

He must insist that he DID vote for GWB - twice! - emphasizing his image as the third Bush term incarnate.
