Edwards: 'Obama likely nominee'
Source: BBC News

Former Democratic US presidential hopeful John Edwards has said that Senator Barack Obama is now his party's "likely presidential nominee".

But he has stopped short of endorsing Mr Obama, saying that the value of endorsements is "greatly inflated".

After Mr Obama's victory in this week's North Carolina primary and narrow loss in Indiana, observers say he is poised to win the nomination.

And although he did not formally endorse the Illinois senator, he joked that Mr Obama "has done pretty well without any endorsement from John Edwards".

3. He did!
Did anyone notice that he slipped up in his interview on Morning Joe where he said: "I already voted for 'him'"?

I don't think he and others noticed his Freudian slip.

18. It was noticed
But Edwards quickly blew it off as a slip of the tongue. But Freudian slips don't lie.

9. I'm not so sure.

He may have sold his "lack of endorsement" for a position in the "Clinton" administration, or maybe he promised neutrality to both Obama and Clinton when he left the campaign.

I don't know which is more likely.

14. Edwards might have
the vp or some other position with either Obama and Clinton, that is if he wants it. It has been said that he doesn't want to endorse because he doesn't want to appear to be pushing for a job with the winner. I think he looked very relaxed and happy today, so what could that mean? Useless to speculate. We will know soon enough.

5. Isn't that what the primaries over the last 5 months have been about?
You're mad at Edwards for stating the obvious?

26. No. I'm angry that he wouldn't wait for the process to be
completed to the end. The end is when the delegates vote for their candidate to run against the other party at the convention. They want to end it before that time. Why are they in a hurry but to manipulate it.

7. Statements like that reflect an intolerant attitude; is that what Obamaism is about?
I've seen too many statements like that about other things at the freeper site. I sure hate to see that type of intolerance at DU for what others deem is fair. No wonder I'm so turned off by this election.

12. that kind of intolerance is all i've seen from the obama campaign
and that's why i won't support him in the GE ... even if he is the nominee. my vote has been EARNED by John Edwards & he's the only one who will get my vote.

All I could go by at the time was the poster's comments. Forgive me? :pals:

The OP was about Edwards & Obama. My comment was to the poster whose comment was "Edwards you creep". Since then, I've learned that it didn't come from true annoyance, but sarcasm.

I'm not for stopping and just saying anyone won and the other drop out. I'm not for the push to have our convention a pep rally only.

13. EDWARDS --- STILL MY 1ST CHOICE.....
I RESPECT what edwards has done--- certainly wish he would come out for Obama, BUT isn't that his decision.

SOLD OUT ? i would think of it as avoiding alienation

RATHER THAN PULL THE PARTY INTO 3RDS...

i believe he dropped out of the race because he saw the "more liberal" votes splitting and WRONGLY allowing Clinton to move to the lead.

most Edwards people that i associate with, are OBAMA BOUND..... and with good reason.

..............and please dont forget to always refer to John "THE REPUBLICAN" McCain with his middle name "THE REPUBLICAN".......
---------------it pisses his handlers off as they are commanded to not put the party and the candidate into the same sentence....... HE SHOULD WEAR IT PROUDLY.... LIKE A LAPEL PIN!!!

Before everyone gets to vote in their primary? Now that's not democratic.
