Military considering new cremation policies

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon is recommending changes in the handling of troops' remains, after it was revealed that crematoriums contracted by the military are used for both human and animal cremations.

A military official said there have been no instances or charges that human and pet remains were mixed. But officials are now recommending that troops' remains be incinerated at a facility that is dedicated entirely to humans.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates believes that it is "insensitive and entirely inappropriate for the dignified treatment of our fallen," said Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell.

"Our heroes deserve to be better treated than that," Morrell said, adding that a sign at one of the crematoriums noted that it also does pet cremations.

The Dover Air Force Base Port Mortuary, where troops' remains arrive from the battlefield, does not have its own crematorium, so it contracts with two funeral homes for the cremations.

While most facilities don't advertise the fact that they handle both human and animal remains, there is a sign near the Torbert Funeral Home crematorium in Dover, Del., advertising the "Friends Forever" pet cremation service.

1. The fact that they have to mention this:
"A military official says there have been no instances or charges that human and pet remains were mixed."

...makes me think this has been going on how long?

2. A Soldier went to Dover today and brought it to their attention
from what I gather from the news conference. But I'm a bit distracted as I've got the kids outside. I have a feeling it's not the first time. :(

6. Pentagon is considering paying for fallen soldiers families to pick
a crematory of their choice in the future. And spokesperson said it's common practice for crametories not to advertise they do human cremations as it's usually done(I read contracted) by the funeral home.

8. ". . . avoid any appearance of a problem." Perfect.
Leave it to the Bush regime to do this to avoid any APPEARANCE of a problem.

Not that the "war" in Iraq has been a problem, or anything.

9. Wouldn't they want to use this new "greener" burial protocol?

"... Now a new option is generating interest — dissolving bodies in lye and flushing the brownish, syrupy residue down the drain.

I have questions: Does it kill those pesky prions that sterilization can't wipe out?
What happens to heavy metal toxins?

Will the Tidy bowl man take a cruise between each Ly-sol-ution? And apply a spring-water rinse?

I know how nasty fries are when cooked in dirty oil, but don't they use lye to make pretzels shiny, crunchy, and...just connecting random dots here...

Gates orders end to military cremations at facilities that also handle animals
Posted: 07:28 PM ET
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Defense Secretary Robert Gates quickly ordered an end to cremations done at mortuary facilities that are not part of funeral homes, after a soldier complained that his buddy’s remains were taken to what appeared to be a “pet crematorium,” the Pentagon announced Friday.

The Pentagon says the facility had separate incinerators for animals and humans, but that the signage and location of the facility in a warehouse district near Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, did not show the appropriate respect due military personnel who have died while serving their country.

When you're dead, you're dead.

I'm NOT an admirer of the military, quite frankly, but I have no problem with animals and wouldn't care if I were cremated where an animal had been cremated. So what!

12. military are paid in respect and honor
and it's not much given what is costs these families

yes, the families should be shown that their loved one who died for their country (whether this war was right or wrong) are different from an animal

13. The "pet cremation" story is a False Flag so they can destroy DNA carte blanche
If the Pentagon suddenly gives a fuck about pet cremations getting mixed in, I'll be a monkey's uncle.

What's likely here is the Pentagon discovered a "remains destruction process" that destroys all recognition of DNA, so they can cover-up further war crimes.

The "pet cremation" story is a cover for their manipulation.
