Obama says he is "within reach" of a win

By MIKE GLOVER, Associated Press Writer
DES MOINES, Iowa - Barack Obama declared himself "within reach" of the Democratic nomination Tuesday and celebrated in the state where his win in the opening contest of the presidential primary season helped reshape the race. Speaking to some 6,000 supporters at an outdoor rally with the Iowa Statehouse as a backdrop, the Illinois senator pointed to a campaign where few gave him much of a chance of winning when he started the journey a year and a half ago. He is now the front-runner.

"Tonight, in the fullness of spring, with the help of those who stood up from Portland to Louisville, we have returned to Iowa with a majority of delegates elected by the American people and you have put us within reach of the Democratic nomination for president of the United States of America," he said.

Obama paid tribute to Hillary Rodham Clinton, who coasted to an overwhelming victory in the Kentucky primary Tuesday. But the tenor of his speech left little doubt that he has put the lengthy and hard fought contest against her behind him. Oregon also voted Tuesday, but the outcome was unknown as Obama spoke.

"The road here has been long and that is partly because we've traveled it with one of the most formidable candidates to ever run for the office," he said, speaking of the senator from New York and congratulating her on her Kentucky victory.

4. Yay, almost over
Ever since the Indiana/NC primary Obama has picked up about 40 superdelegates, as well as had 10 of John Edwards's pledged delegates switch to Obama after he endorsed him. After tonight Obama is only about 60 delegates away from 2025.

5. Have Never Seen a Leader More Childish Than BHO
The guy has ZERO decency. He cannot stand being clobbered by HRC in Kentucky - by any yardstick he got handed it to him big in Kentucky losing 3 to 1 to HRC. A decent leader would at least have the magnanimity to sit out at least until Oregon results became available. But not Mr. Saint Oba "how can HRC get any limelight" ma.

Similar tactics adopted following West Virginia defeat. Go Ba Ma!

6. If you've never seen a more childish leader than Obama,
you've been asleep for at least eight years.

Not the definition #12 in Dictionary.com

"a duct for conveying warm air from a hot-air furnace to a register or stack"

Funny how #12 describes GWB quite well eh!

10. Zero Decency, Huh?
I see the EXACT same comment over on LiveLeak, when the wingers get themselves all in a circle jerk of Obama bashing. Not that you are one of those, mind you, just sayin'.

Might want to check your talking points a wee bit, Sparky.

11. You mean, kinda like how HRC responded....
... when she got trounced in the majority of other states? Strange, I don't recall her demonstrating any great humility as she's lost state after state after state.
