1. Printing error.
A portion was left out of what Bush signed.

2. Can't find it on the Reuters site - have they pulled it already?
Reuters must have accidentally let a story embarassing to the Chimp run for a little while.

6. They pulled the breaking news, but here is the article posted on Reuters
http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSPAT26623120080522

The must be referring to what I placed in bold:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Senate joined the House on Thursday to override President George W. Bush's veto of the $289 billion farm bill, enacting it as law except for the trade section, which was deleted through a clerical error.

It just appeard odd when I saw flash as breaking news.

5. I think..
Although the senate overrode the veto the bill still becomes law because when the house sent the bill to Bush they made an error and did not send 35 pages of the bill.

Bush wins on a technicality.

8. Sort of, Kind of, Not really
They have the votes to override, but will need to start the whole process over again and make sure they send the complete bill to the whitehouse, so that they are overriding the same bill Bush signs.

9. Constitution question: If a bill gets 2/3, can it just bypass Chimpy?
Or does it have to go through the motions of a veto and another vote?

10. Has to go through the motions.
If nothing else, the veto also provides time for people to change their mind about how they'll vote.

Facts on the ground change, politics changes, deals get worked out. 2/3 vote in early May doesn't always mean 2/3 vote in mid May. It can mean the same, less, or more. It all depends on the people.

12. Your post makes no sense
If Bush* signs a bill it becomes law and there is no need to "override". Bush* has vetoed the bill and not signed it. It is the veto that Congress will override and it will become Law without Bush*'s signature.
