McCain rejects endorsement of controversial pastor John Hagee
Edited on Thu May-22-08 02:53 PM by YDogg
Source: CNN TV

"(CNN) — In the face of mounting controversy over headline-grabbing statements from Pastor John Hagee, CNN has learned presumptive Republican nominee John McCain has decided to reject his endorsement.

The Huffington Post had published a recording of Hagee saying that Adolf Hitler had been fulfilling God’s will by hastening the desire of Jews to return to Israel in accordance with biblical prophecy.

“Obviously, I find these remarks and others deeply offensive and indefensible, and I repudiate them. I did not know of them before Reverend Hagee's endorsement, and I feel I must reject his endorsement as well,” McCain said in a statement to CNN Thursday."

5. So will that be the end of it?
Or will McLame have to go on a dozen programs and repeat the press release? I'm betting the Very Serious People of Media simply say, "Well, that's that" and we'll never hear about it again. Anyone who brings up McLame's courtship of the Hagee endorsement will be accused of wallowing in the past, or mud-slinging, or something. Anyone who recalls how "delighted" McLame was with the Hagee endorsement will decidedly not be getting any barbecue.

57. Exactly! We never did like him!
I am here to humbly concede the 2008 Presidency to the candidate from the Democratic Party.

I am a "right-wing nut job" and I never did like McCain. Let's face it, he was just the best "democrat" in the race. Now how can I believe that he won't flip-flop with terrorists. He was so afraid of going through what Obama did that he didn't bother to show reason. He just said "Oh my! Someones mad at me! I'd better change my mind!"

Just to give you folks an honest insight into the other camp, I honestly don't know what I am going to do. For about 4 seconds, I thought about voting for the dems but I really can't stand either one that they are putting out this year. I thought about not voting but can't stand the fact that I wouldn't be able to complain for 4 years. Right now, I am considering writing in Huckabee although I know That any write in or vote for a third party candidate would be a wasted vote.

Like it or not Johnnie, it was us nut jobs that got GW elected twice and you know how unpopular he has been. You just helped the GOP snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Again, congratulations Hill or Bama, whichever comes out of that cat fight. We'll see you guys again in 4 years. Atleast it can go back to everything be y'all's fault. Our guy is done.

7. Not good enough.
We need to know exactly what Hagee preaches. ALL news networks should break into regularly scheduled programming to run his sermons followed by a 3 hour analysis of his words so we can judge for ourselves.

Where's the pastorbation-A-thon?

THREE MONTHS AGO! That issue has already been internalized by slightly (or more than slightly, depending on the individual) racists in Kentucky, WV, and other states in the South, and not just the rich people, as Hillary points out with such sinister delight. In these states, Wright, along with Bittergate (another tabloid-created "scandal" to serve as a diversion fanned by the corporate elite and their propaganda networks), are a deep part of many White voters' perceptions; the net result being the mentality that Obama is a godless black separatist who is an adversary of god-fearing, White hunters. I'm telling you, this will have significant effect, dividing the electorate enough to yield either a true victory or a stealable margin for McCain (both of which amount to a win for McCain).

The GOP plan to push this angle to the hilt, as we saw with Huckabee's comments last week at the NRA event, in which he shamlessly evoked that old stereotype of the scared, cowardly black man. They plan to exploit the manufactured division between the "God-fearing, proud hunters" and the "Godless niggers" who want to take away their guns. Though it was (or at least should have been) expected that racism would be a cornerstone of the GOP's campaign when we have a Black nominee, it is still no less infuriating. They know Obama's candidacy will energize black voters in the South, so they're adding a much less implicit and subtle racial element to their traditional forumla of God, gays, and guns. Like Malloy says, this kind of shit makes me embarassed to be a white male.

Point is: the Wright and Bittergate things, which are essentially part of the same PR strategy, have mortally wounded Obama, though they have faded from the front page for now.

34. What of a crock of dookie, Hagee withdraws his endorsement.
"UPDATE: Citing critics who had been "grossly misrepresenting" his positions since his decision to back John McCain, Hagee withdrew that endorsement Thursday afternoon.

"I am tired of these baseless attacks and fear that they have become a distraction in what should be a national debate about important issues. I have therefore decided to withdraw my endorsement of Senator McCain for President effective today, and to remove myself from any active role in the 2008 campaign," he said in a statement.

"I hope that the Senator McCain will accept this withdrawal so that he may focus on the issues that are most important to America and the world."

Some withdrawal:rofl:

http://mediamatters.org/items/200802280018

HAGEE: All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they are -- were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other Gay Pride parades. So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know that there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the day of judgment. And I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.

:grr: :banghead: :nuke:

Apparently McSatan was prefectly fine with that. Then again, LA and MS are probably in the bag for the 'pukes, so who cares? :sarcasm: Oh, speaking of MS, what was the great sin of Biloxi (53 confirmed dead)? Casinos, maybe? :eyes:

And what about the Catholic Church being "the Great Whore"? Even Bill Donohue, the loose cannon from the Catholic League, took issue with that, until one of the 'puke puppet masters told him to play nice.

They would be making a huge deal out of Obama's "Hitler-loving" pastor, while McCain's Rev. Wright would be talked about for a couple of days and then dropped.
