Source: Associated Press

Article Launched: 05/23/2008 03:40:42 PM PDT

QUITO, Ecuador — ...

"If it's a crime to have interviewed and gotten to know people from the FARC, let them accuse me — but in Ecuador," said Maria Augusta Calle, a journalist and member of the assembly rewriting the Ecuadorean constitution ...

The documents .. also allegedly name Ivan Larrea, a second Ecuadorean placed under preliminary investigation Thursday ...

Larrea's brother Gustavo, Ecuador's internal security minister, has acknowledged meeting with Reyes but says it was part of efforts to secure the release of rebel-held hostages ...

Correa said Friday in Brazil that .... Colombia should investigate its own politicians' links to drug traffickers and right-wing death squads before probing whether Ecuadoreans have ties to the FARC.

1. The Colombian government
Edited on Sat May-24-08 08:36 AM by ronnie624
just hands the lapdog AP documents, and the AP reports them as fact.

And just in case the the Uribe butt smoochers here can't make it to the last paragraph:

"More than 30 members of Congress, mostly his allies (Uribe's), have been jailed on charges of colluding with right-wing militias, and three politicians have been arrested on bribery charges in connection with a congressional vote that enabled Uribe's 2006 re-election."

2. Well, I think that's what the "miracle laptops" are all about--cover for Bush's pal Uribe
Edited on Sat May-24-08 03:27 PM by Peace Patriot
(the Medellin Cartel's go-to guy, in his early career; now the go-to guy for the Bush Cartel), and his intimate connections to the rightwing paramilitary death squads (thousands of murders) and major drug/weapons trafficking.

It's the Bushite M.O. Cover your own crimes by pre-emptive strikes, via the Associated Pukes, on OTHER people--and the more innocent, and democratic, and into social justice they are, the better. Smear, smear, smear! It's getting a bit stale here--people are just ignoring it--so they're trying it out, in South America, for Oil War II. But the thing is, the South Americans LO-O-O-NG ago stopped believing AP puke. Evidence: Leftist leaders elected in Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Nicaragua, Guatemala and more coming. The PEOPLE know, a) who is benefiting them, b) who oppresses and kills them, and c) which side the corporate 'news' monopolies are on.

I don't think the people of South America are worried about anybody talking to the FARC. Many of them LIKE the FARC. They'd prefer the FARC to be running Colombia rather the Uribe mafia. They think the FARC are courageous to be still fighting the fascist bastards, lo these 40+ plus years. Not all, but many. Some abhor violence on either side (and everybody knows that 90% of the violence is the Colombian military's doing). The rest of South America is undergoing a peaceful, democratic, leftist revolution--the most amazing bloodless revolution anywhere, anytime. They don't need to take up arms. They've done long hard work on democratic institutions and transparent elections. And virtually everyone in their right minds (most people, including the FARC) want a political settlement of the Colombian civil war and PEACE in that country and its border regions. The only people who DON'T want peace are, a) the Bush junta, b) Uribe and the Colombian military ($5.5 BILLION in military aid, through Bushite fingers), and c) greedy, conscienceless fascist cabals within some countries, constantly plotting coups, egged on and funded by the Bushites.

The "miracle laptop" bullshit will die its own corrupt little death in the corporate newstream. The fake photos from it have already been exposed. The fact that the Colombian military had control of the laptops for two days, and "accessed, created, modified or deleted" 48,055 files, will get around. Interpol said the laptops are useless in a court of law because of this. They are only useful to Colombia for Associate Pukes HEADLINES. And what purpose does that serve? Cover for Uribe/Bush crimes, and psyops/disinformation for Oil War II (an increasingly problematic war, from Donald Rumsfeld's point of view--he's losing rather than gaining strategic ground; he lost Paraguay as a hopping point to Bolivia, with the recent election of a leftist in Paraguay, for instance).

3. Unconfirmed Reports That FARC Commander Has Died
Unconfirmed Reports That FARC Commander Has Died.
The Colombian government says it is checking reports that the FARC rebel commander Manuel Marulanda has died. The country's defence minister says the information has come from a source, who says Marulanda died in late March. So far there is no confirmation of the report from the military.

4. What About Obama's Washer Repairman?
The "wonder laptop" conveniently provides the documents to tarnish the reputations of all President Uribe's enemies. It is so convenient, it is a wonder that Uribe hasn't announced that the laptop provides evidence that Obama's washer repairman is secretly funding the FARC and the IRA.

The U.S. is exporting billions of dollars to Uribe's right wing Colombia government, I guess they also exported the drafters of the fraudulent Niger documents there as well. The U.S. used forged Niger documents, which purported to prove that Saddam sought uranium from Niger, to justify their attack on Iraq. That worked so well they are using the same method to justify attacks on Ecuador and Venezuela.

We can believe nothing that the Bush-Cheney administration -- or its puppet governments -- claim.
