Carter visits Bolivia for latest peace effort
Source: AP

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and Bolivia’s Evo Morales said Saturday they hope their countries are on the road to repairing badly strained relations.

After meeting for more than two hours in the Bolivian capital of La Paz, Carter told Morales he does not doubt President Barack Obama’s stated intention that he wants to improve ties.

The Bolivian leader responded that he has “great interest in bettering relations with the new U.S. government.”

Carter also confirmed that his Atlanta-based nonprofit group the Carter Center will monitor Dec. 6 elections in which Morales is seeking re-election.

5. They seem like men who would be natural allies, don't they?
It's beautiful learning they've actually had visits together before, and felt no need to tell the world.

(Remember when Uribe went up to Plains last year, to push Jimmy Carter into endorsing the FTA he wanted, which Congressional Democrats rejected due to Uribe's atrocious human rights record, and went back to Colombia, claiming Carter approved it, and having to retract his claim when Jimmy Carter stated he absolutely didn't back the FTA at that time. Not so smooth, Uribe!)
