Glenn Beck stars in publishing deal
Source: Crains

Glenn Beck and his longtime publisher Simon & Schuster have launched a multi-imprint publishing partnership, the company announced Monday.

The conservative talk show host will work in a variety of formats, producing nonfiction books, original audio books and e-books, as well as titles for children and young adults. The works will be published by various imprints within Simon & Schuster, including its children’s and audio divisions.

Mr. Beck’s agreement calls for sharing costs and profits with the publisher, and won’t require negotiating advances for each new project. The arrangement, which Simon & Schuster also has with Stephen King, requires less upfront investment on the part of the pubilsher and offers potentially greater returns for the author.

“This partnership gives me the incredible freedom to publish books across multiple platforms and for all different ages,” Mr. Beck said in a statement.

Simon & Schuster will put out three titles this year by Mr. Beck, who has become one of the CBS Corp. division’s best selling authors. Both his 2008 novel, The Christmas Sweater, and his 2007 polemic An Inconvenient Book were No. 1 bestsellers.

The first book under the new arrangement will be an audio original, read by Mr. Beck, titled America’s March to Socialism. It will be released this month.

Well I go the library and buy my books used, but are there any good indie publishers? And are Feral House books any good?

7. Ptoooey on Simon & Republicon Homelander - I see where they are coming form, and
will also boycott their HATE publishing program

Shame on them --

My prophecy: like all things Homelander and anti-American, this will ultimately be an Epic FAIL

13. Yep! I got into an argument with Beck at a local Borders
He was here last year signing his Christmas book called The Christmas Sweater or whatever it is. I stood in line for 45 minutes just to challenge him on something he had said a week or so before. He got red-faced and actually kinda blew up at me in front of all these people that didn't know of his political stuff at all - just his little book. Some of them seemed shocked the same guy that could have written that Christmas Sweater book could have such a temper. It was hilarious.

21. BTW, what the hell was Beck doing at Borders, of all places?
I mean that place is known for supporting progressive authors. It started in Ann Arbor for christ's sake! The home of the Hash Bash.
