Polish Priest Publishes Sex Guide
Source: BBC

A Polish Catholic priest has published a book which provides married couples with a theological and practical guide to spicing up their sex lives.

In his book, Sex as you don't know it: for married couples who love God, Father Ksawery Knotz aims to sweep away the strait-laced attitudes many hold.

Sex in marriage, the Franciscan friar explains, should not be boring but "saucy, surprising and fantasy packed".

The book, which has the backing of the Polish Catholic Church, has been a hit.

I think the Catholic Church is hopefully beginning to take a much healthier and less deprived look at sex. Next: No celibacy.

4. There was a whole section (Including photos) in a "Monty Python" book...
On positions for avoiding sex.

It was patterned on those "Better Sex Manuals" popular in the 70's.

I seem to remember my favorite was the one where one partner laid on the other's back face up.

It was hilarious... But, now it would seem we're seeing the other side of the coin.

2. He's a Franciscan.

Humble, nature loving, kind, pacifistic, open minded, and accepting of others. I still respect their order. I just can't make fun of him for this. If change comes in the Catholic chuch it comes from orders like his.

Franciscans don't exactly have a bad rep...now the Jesuits?...that's a whole other story.

8. What is wrong with the Jesuits
I went to a Jesuit high school and it had some of the most liberal priests I have met in the church. They even went so far as to invite a homosexual activist to our school to discuss the needs for expanded rights. Hardly something I think most here would be offended by.

10. Perhaps so but the order has a checkered and tainted past.
Sadly they carry that history with them.

Always glad to hear about liberal Catholics. Makes some people's heads explode here.

15. Personal advice is not medical treatment
I am in complete agreement with the poster you replied to. I am not going to take advice about sex and marriage from someone who has not only no experience with them, but who has sworn off of them for forever.

11. yawn ... catholic priest: try something new ... don't copy
Religious priest writing a sex manual - you are a 1000+ years late. Hinduism already did it with KS.

Try something new.

14. I'll never forget sitting in a Catholic Church when I was about 11...
Our church had experienced a rash of divorces, and the priest had spent several weeks giving sermons on how God expected us to behave to keep our marriages healthy. This particular week, he gave a lecture on the need to satisfy the physical aspects of our marriage to keep our partners happy, and he used TONS of euphemisms that my young mind didn't get. At one point he made some comment that I don't remember, and some guy in the front row stood up and shouted "I can't believe you're talking about this at mass! That isn't Christian sex!" and started to gather his kids up. Without missing a beat, the priest looked at him and said, "God doesn't care if you perform cunnilingus, so long as you're doing it to your own wife, and you're doing it correctly." About half the room broke out in laughter, and the other half gasped in horror.

I, of course, turned to my mom and asked, "What's cunnilingus?" She turned bright red and didn't answer.

I'm pretty sure he got in trouble for that, because we didn't see him giving sermons for quite a while afterward.

There have been priests and friars with liberal views on sexuality in the church pretty much since the beginning of the church itself, but they have always been a minority.
