Pakistan: Corpses lie exposed in retaken Swat town
Source: Associated Press

MINGORA, Pakistan (AP) — Corpses lay exposed in the Swat Valley's main town on Sunday, and residents rushed to mostly empty markets in search of food a day after the military claimed to have retaken the city from the Taliban.

Elsewhere in the northwest, officials said scores of militants were killed in fighting with soldiers that could signal Pakistan is expanding the offensive from Swat into other parts of the northwestern border region with Afghanistan.

Many buildings were damaged in parts of Mingora seen by The Associated Press, but not badly. Two decomposing bodies, apparently those of insurgents, lay unburied in a cemetery, while a third charred corpse lay close to a shopping mall. The smell of explosives hung in the air.

"We have been starving for many days. We have been cooking tree leaves to keep ourselves alive. Thank God it is over," said Afzal Khan. "We need food, we need help. We want peace."

2. Who would prefer, the goddamned Taleban?
The Taleban are a threat to the people of Pakistan, as well as our troops in Afghanistan. The Taleban will threaten India as well, if they are able to turn Pakistan into another Somalia.

3. These are not Taliban fighters...they are fanatics that want to rule
their tribal areas with Sharia Law. They are known to the Pakistani government and have had numerous deals with them in the past. In fact, these areas have had self rule tribal laws for many many years without any Pakistani government involvement. Their main goal is to rule with strict Islamic laws. They could have taliban supporters in their midst but they are not the same Taliban group we are fighting against in Afghanistan.

6. What do you think they should be called, then?
Edited on Sun May-31-09 01:43 PM by muriel_volestrangler
When we have things like this:

Hakimullah Mehsud, a spokesman for Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Baitullah Mehsud, claiming responsibility for Wednesday’s deadly bomb-and-gun attack in Lahore that killed 27 people and injured another 326, warned of more violence in response to the military operation in Swat and surrounding areas. Speaking to media from an undisclosed location, the Taliban commander said “I appeal to of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Multan to vacate their cities as there will be more such massive attacks, more dangerous than this and we will target government buildings and places”. Referring to the blast site, he added, “We looking for this target for a long time”.

If you reject the name they give themselves, what do you want to call them instead?

14. They are the Pashtun People of Pakistan--an isolated and
independent tribe in this country. I believe that the Pashtun of Afghanistan are the dominant tribe.

15. You think this is an entire people fighting against the Pakistani government?
Since Pushto speakers make up virtually all the population of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas - not the area that Swat is in - I'd say you'd be highly inaccurate to call the people the government is fighting in Swat 'the Pashtun people'.

17. Tehreek-e-Taliban has also attacked and killed pro-Taliban leaders.
Does that make them US allies?

8. tribal yes, but Sharia I don't think so
I think Sharia is new (since 9/11) and I think it is the Taliban that brought it. This is the first I've heard claimed that it's not the Taliban.

7.  Pakistan city centre 'destroyed'
The scale of the war damage to the main city in the Swat valley has become clear, as fears are expressed about the humanitarian situation in the region.
...
A BBC correspondent who went to Mingora has reported widespread damage.

Rifatullah Orakzai, reporting for the BBC's Urdu Service, said that all the buildings and shops in the town square had been completely destroyed.

However, local people have now been able to seek supplies in the town's market after the lifting of a curfew.

20. consider this...Islam.. religion, cult, or product of an organic Brain Disease. 'Acromegaly'>Link>
Edited on Mon Jun-01-09 07:54 PM by sam sarrha
http://users.skynet.be/sky50779/mohammed.htm

"A better scientific examination of the sources has made clear that all symptoms of acromegaly are present with some psychopathological paranoid traits. Acromegaly is caused by a small tumour of the hypophysis,..snip"

"snip...According to the hadith Muhammad suffered from a long-lasting disease, which he treated by means of bleeding. He walked as somebody who comes down from a hill. His skin-colour was peculiar, not white, not too tanned, somewhat rosy. His eyebrows were conspicuous. He was sweating heavily, especially when he was receiving revelations. He heard the noise of bells and voices. He had a great appetite and suffered from hunger. Notwithstanding his sexual relations with ten young women, he remained quasi-sterile: one only child after the age of forty years. During his last illness he suffered from intense headaches, losses of consciousness, ...snip"

so.. maybe it is the product of un-educated peoples understanding of organic disease.. Hallucinations and paranoia which seems to be interwoven into the religion

the ignorance of Mohamed's day gave the myth life... the ignorance of today feeds it and enables it, gives it life.. propagates it's inherent congenital paranoia... and every neighborhood's closet psychopath can manipulate themselves to become a Mullah to fuck over everyone.

i do think this Acromegaly diagnosis is unique.. it seems all the other religions are the product of Schitzophrenia

22. Show respect to Prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him)
You are not Muslim but I am and if you don't believe in Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) then don't believe nobody is hurting you but atleast show respect for others belief and Prophets because we believe in him and believe firmly in Islam too.

23. Religion is filth.
Islam is as repellant and disgusting as the rest. It - and its imaginary "Prophet" - deserve no respect whatsoever. I don't care what nonsense you believe, I'll not show fairy tales and institutionalized misogyny any respect.

24. i have respect for reasonable people, their good works. it is the development of specific regions
in the brain that produce the results claimed by Prophets and zealots. it is the Contemplative practices that train the mind to become "Tolerant", spacious, inclusive.. that is where the goodness of man comes from.. not faith in archaic delusions and halucinations... the bloodiest, most horrific acts of this millennium, slavery and brutality on the planet are made by the Faithful.. i cant respect that, nor any other fellow follower professing "Piety" that doesn't risk laying their own life down to end it.. sorry, i dont think the Dar Fur is a badge of honor for Islam, Muslem women being raped in the open as they attempt to get water for what is left of their family slaughtered by fellow muslims, now being repetedly savagely and repetedly raped by theit brothers in Islam, nor do i honor the Jews for their Apartheid and cultural genocide in Palestine.. it is what happens when people do not train the mind. when cultures glorify teaching ignorance, hate, intolerance in their schools.. when separation by cast is institutional in 'Religion' by honoring, teaching intolerance and bigotry as an aspect of their religion thru emotionally charged concepts such as Infidel/Gentile.

i was raised in a cult fundamentalist church, tortured and tormented all thru my childhood.. i despise religion of any kind now.. unfortunately yours also, i respect you/your's for your dedication to a goal to improve, not your method.. there are a lot easier ways involving only reality . i am sorry for all the good good people in them .. all people are born pure and good.. i have nothing against you personally, you are obviously a good person trying to do better..

i considered converting to Islam at one time.. the deeper i got into it, the less it made sense and the more shocked ans frightened i became at how intolerant much of the literature was.. i was a research scientist, i research a spectrum of everything, i'm not much of a follower
