Cheney Stars in Gay Republicans' Anti-Bush Ad (good comedy on Newsmax)
Log Cabin Republicans, a gay group that supported President Bush's election, plans to run a TV commercial opposing the president's call for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.

The unwitting star of the ad: Vice President Dick Cheney.

The 30-second spot shows Cheney, whose daughter Mary is a lesbian, at a debate four years ago saying, "People should be free to enter into any kind of relationship they want to enter into."

After the veep is shown saying, "I don't think there should necessarily be a federal policy in this area," the words "We agree" flash on the screen.

2. The freepers are going nuts about this
How they're not really republicans, that to be a republican one must agree that marriage is only for straight people, etc. If the LC repubs vote for Kerry, I wonder if that will make up for the votes Nadar siphons off?

3. Man, that's annoying.
That whole "argument-by-specious-redefinition" thing - UGH!

"If you don't agree with me fully on (issue X), then obviously you're not a REAL (whatever)!"

Or its converse: "Well, if you agree that (whatever) is true, then you've proven you're a (whatever)!"

It leaves no room for nuance, and it's arrogant as hell. I see that nonsense around here a lot, too, unfortunately.

5. Why Can't They Use the Words Gay and Lesbian?
The Log Cabin Republicans have come a long way out of the closet under Patrick Guerrero's leadership but why can't they use the words GAY and LESBIAN in their ad?
This is no time to keep one foot in the closet.
COME OUT ! COME OUT ALL THE WAY!! The Air is better OUT HERE!
