Two 9-11 Widows Respond to Rush Limbaugh Attacks
PHILADELPHIA -- March 10, 2004 -- (TomFlocco.com) -- Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh weighed in on the subject of current George Bush campaign TV ads with references to September 11, placed on the air by Republicans during his nationally broadcast radio show last Friday. The following two letters were written to Mr. Limbaugh today by the two 9-11 widows whose voices were used during his radio broadcast. The controversial Limbaugh referred to Republican Kristen Breitweiser and Monica Gabrielle as Democratic "campaign consultants... not grieving widows... obsessed with rage and hatred." The responses and transcript can be found by clicking on the link below.

Yes. Immediately. But "pimping"? He posted what he thought was a breaking story on his site. It was wrong, and he promptly retracted it. So?

But Flocco is not a breaking news source. He does fine investigative work. If you'd rather not see that, your loss.

I won't defend what Tom does, but seems to me he apologised and retracted the story. But when the story was posted he and Michael were in contact with her office overnight with spurious responses...

Find the Passenger Manifest, find out where Jeb Bush was at the time, and where was the infamous Marc Rich?

Also what was the response of the Canadian Military?

Bunch of wierd shit there... eh?

16. Rush is not a hate-monger so quit saying that!!!
His own words in the above article:

"I do not know this kind of hatred; I don't know this kind of venom; I don't harbor it; I never have; I don't know what it's like to be governed by this kind of rage, and I don't know what life must be like when it is. I cannot relate. I cannot relate to being obsessed with rage and hatred. I can relate to being obsessed with love and infatuation, but I cannot relate to being obsessed with all this hatred. I just don't get it. It is unspeakable to me. It is dirty. It is wounding. I think this stuff is absolutely poison... I think these people have no clue."

And that should settle that!!!

14. Their unbridled hypocrisy knows no bounds!
From Rush's show: "I don't know what it's like to be governed by this kind of rage, and I don't know what life must be like when it is. I cannot relate. I cannot relate to being obsessed with rage and hatred."

I don't know whether to laugh or throw things.

I love Kristin. She is so articulate and has quite a commanding presence.
Here she points out the truth:
And, as an aside, you failed to mention the following actual fact in your show:  that Mayor Giuliani, Police Commissioner Kerik, Former Fire Commissioner Von-Essen, and 9/11 Widow Deena Burnett were "BOOKED" BY THE GOP to go on those shows.  (See Washington Post article on Friday).  I, on the other hand, was "booked" by no one other than myself.  Frankly, Mr. Limbaugh, I expected better from you.

29. I found the reference
Attempting to regain the initiative, the Bush-Cheney campaign went on the offensive yesterday, booking former New York mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani on two networks; former New York police commissioner Bernard Kerik on three networks; Deena Burnett, the widow of United Flight 93 victim Tom Burnett, on five networks, including Spanish-language Univision; and Rep. Vito Fossella, a Republican from Staten Island, on three cable shows. GOP officials said the interviews were booked only because of the controversy, and they said they believe their representatives would be viewed by most voters as having more stature than the critics.

Giuliani, who was mayor of New York during the Sept. 11 attacks and has campaigned on behalf of Bush since then, said in a statement issued through the RNC: "President Bush has provided the steady, consistent and principled leadership to bring our country through the worst attack in our history. His leadership on that day is central to his record, and his continued leadership is critical to our ultimate success against world terrorism."

15. Response from Kristen Breitweiser
The other letter is pretty good too, but Kristen Breitweiser is *very* articulate.

<clips>

Mr. Limbaugh,

For your information, I am one of the widows you are wrongly accusing of being "schooled" by the Democratic Party.

My name is Kristen Breitweiser. I am not a Democrat. I voted for President Bush. So did my husband who was killed on 9/11.

I would encourage you to educate yourself on who I am, prior to your making erroneous statements about me on your radio show.

I would also encourage you to visit the website of the 9/11 Family Steering Committee(911independentcommission.org) of which I am a founding member.

The members of the Family Steering Committee (a non-partisan, completely self-funded organization) have been tireless advocates working to get answers as to why our loved ones were killed on the morning of 9/11 and why this nation was so very vulnerable to terrorism on that horrible day. In order to make this nation safer and to ensure that our loved ones were not killed in vain, we believe that we must learn from the tragic failures that occurred leading up to and on 9/11.

The only way we can be safe in the future is to learn from the past. The only way we can have a thorough examination of the past is with a cooperative government. Sadly, President Bush has been our biggest adversary in trying to find out what happened on 9/11. And, after voting for him in the last election, I am gravely disappointed in his behavior in fighting this commission and their noble efforts to explain why we as a nation were so vulnerable to terrorism on 9/11.

I look forward to your apology.

Many thanks,

Kristen Breitweiser.

35. Just forwarded this story to the folks at Peaceful Tomorrows.
BTW, check out their latest release "Frequently Asked Questions"

www.peacefultomorrows.org
(snip)
2. Does Peaceful Tomorrows support particular political candidates?

As a 501c3 nonprofit project of The Tides Center, we cannot, and do not, endorse any candidate for political office, including the office of the presidency.

3. Has Peaceful Tomorrows received funding from John Kerry or his wife?

September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows has never received funding from Teresa Heinz Kerry, John Kerry, the Howard Heinz Endowment, or the Vira I. Heinz Endowment. We have no connection with the Heinz or Kerry families through Tides Foundation, the Tides Center or any other entity.

4. Was Peaceful Tomorrows created to oppose President Bush?

Peaceful Tomorrows is an advocacy organization founded by family members of September 11th victims who have united to turn their grief into action for peace. Our core mission is to seek effective, nonviolent solutions to terrorism, and to acknowledge our common experience with all people similarly affected by violence throughout the world. Since one of our major goals is to promote a safe, open dialogue on alternatives to war, we engage in critical discussion about all aspects of 9/11 and its aftermath, including whether the policies pursued by this administration have made us safer. We believe these are issues that still need discussion.

in a re-election campaign ad, the outrage would be deafening.

As offensive as using it is, it also tells me * doesn't have anything else to run on. He only has an emotional button to push. He can't run on the economy or his record. Right wingers are claiming that the economy is improving. Translated from gopspeak that means, they don't plan to do anything different. What you've got now, is what you'll get if the Chimp gets the WH again. Time for change.

Clinton's visit here to OKC was tasteful and sincere. He responded properly to this criminal act by seeing it as just what it was a criminal act perpetrated upon the people of the United States. This was not a war or an attack on the country it was a political terror act on our soil no different than 9/11. I was there. I know.

42. 9/11 families to rally 3/11 at bush's appearance on Long Island,NY
****9/11 Victims' Families to Rally in Long Island Demanding 9/11 Answers******

Family members of the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks will be rallying at Eisenhower Park this Thursday 3/11 at 4:30PM to demand answers to the "unanswered questions" of 9/11.

President Bush will be attending a campaign fundraiser at this time. Organizers have pushed back the start of their rally in deference to family members attending an afternoon ceremony at a future Nassau County 9/11 Memorial for those they lost on 9/11. There is no parking at the site of the Rally. Merrick Ave will be closed due to security concerns. So we recommend all take public transport or have friend drops you off as close as possible to the Stewart Ave. entrance.

DIRECTIONS by Public Transport: >From NYC - take the HEMPSTEAD LIRR train to Hempstead - this is the last stop of the train. The Hempstead bus terminal is across the street. Take bus #35 from Hempstead to Eisenhower Park. In traffic the trip could be 20 minutes. Ask for the stop at the end of Stewart Ave. We have been asked to convene approximately 150 north of the Stewart St. entrance to the Park.*******

Gregg,

Interesting to mull that one over! Who to face Kristen? Consider that Kristen is a young widow with a very small child who is trying to hold herself together on the inside, go before the media, etc as a spokesman. Not easy, for sure.

But perhaps Rush should be invited to face her. (I am not sure, but I believe he is downplaying and ignoring this smoldering issue) Doubt if he would do it though, unless you guys were to embarrass him into it. Those were quite harsh allegations (and I often wonder what the deal was when Rush, brother Dave, President Bush and Mrs. Limbaugh discussed when they had dinner at the Limbaugh home in Cape Girardo, MO before the 2000 primaries.......No one ever seems to ask about that one....

Rush should be asked to explain why he went after the widows. Period. Failing that, I would also like to see a rematch with Deena Burnett; however, this time around I would surely get into issues surrounding the 9-11 timeline (www.cooperativeresearch.com--best timeline), as the chronology of events and actions by Bush, Rumsfeld and Myers are indefensible within the context of Commissioner Timothy Roemer's list of ref's (see testimony transcript) on "planes used as weapons" and the sources from Newsweek describing the Prez PDB's currently being censored. The other truly outspoken person who regularly defends Rush and goes after Democrats within the same mindset would be Sean Hannity.....Either Rush or Sean would be my first choice, and then Deena Burnett. You might be more successful with Rush or Sean if you just asked them to debate on the issues surrounding the 9-11 timeline......THAT would be something I and thousands of others (ratings?!) would pay to see!

53. fyi, y'all
it's Cape Girardeau, not Girardo. It may be Rush's home town, but it's still part of my (adopted) state!
