McCain Squashes Kerry VP Talk - CBS
"John Kerry is a close friend of mine. We have been friends for years," McCain said Wednesday when pressed to squelch speculation about a Kerry-McCain ticket. "Obviously I would entertain it."

Within hours, the Arizona senator's chief of staff, Mark Salter, closed the door on that idea. "Senator McCain will not be a candidate for vice president in 2004," Salter told The Associated Press, saying he spoke for the senator."

Just him SAYING this is enough to give the Bushies some severe gastrointestinitis!!!:D

(Not to mention John Kerry thinking about a very intriguing endorsement possibility in the future from a certain Southwestern conservative Repub senator?) :eyes:

20. exactly
We don't need a repug or conservative wimpocrat to win. I mean, ya think the GOP or RNC would ever even float the balloon of a Bush-Miller (as in Zell) ticket.

6. Probably better this way
I can see the headlines: Democrats are so desperate, or are so lacking in qualified individuals that they have to bring a pub on the ticket...

7. He's still yankin' Bush's chain
Look at that statement...NOT I will not be John Kerry's VP...BUT will not be a candidate for Vice President in 2004 (so Cheney can relax). And I gotta believe Kerry and McCain are going to have the chimp spinning in circles with teases about McCain in a Kerry cabinet...Secretary of Defense?...oh, yeah...more fun & games to come.

14. That's how I view it
It's very embarrassing to the Bush junta to even have McCain say he would "entertain" the possibility of being Kerry's VP.

8. Good
What in the world are we doing even remotely considering a Republican for this position?

Ludicrous.

16. I dunno
I tend to just ignore the freepers, until they come over here, and then I just squash 'em.

Honestly, we have plenty of good liberals to pick for VP, there's no reason to pick a reactionary conservative like McCain.

You want to upset the freepers? How about Max Cleland?

I hope that ends the subject, and allows us to get on with life.

Dems have ALWAYS had these weird illusions about McCain.

11. John Kerry is a close friend of mine
Can we use this to slam the door on the RW talking point that Kerry and his anti-military protest speeches where he admitted US war crimes against civilians and we had POWs being mistreated because of his speeches?

McCain was a POW during that time and if he has no problem with Kerry's speeches against US actions in VN then why can't we close this RW talking point?

17. This would be a slam dunk
I know from reading some of the responses that some Dems would not be happy about McCain for VP, that is a shame this would be a winner. Many independents and progressive Republicans would buy this ticket. The election would not even be close. McCain has a good and fairly liberal record for a Republicans. On top of it many in this country are very dismayed at the deep divisions. This would be a uniting ticket. I would not put to much credibility in what a spokesman says. I take McCain at his original word, he would entertain it. Thats as close to a yes as you will get this early on. AND this is as close to an endorsement you can expect if Mc Cain wants to remain a Republican.

Absolutely amazing

18. Dang, that would be nice if it were to happen though
It would really secure a win for us, too, if it were to happen. How long has it been since we've had a Democrat-Republican ticket?

19. maybe something would get done
If this were to happen, being a bipartisan ticket, maybe the congress could finally heal wounds and take the American people into consideration for a change----you know, health care, education smimple stuff like that instead of war and scare tacktics----I for one dont give it much credibility, there would be a revolt by the repugs----
