Kerry Meets Dean, Slams 'Crooked' Republicans
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=584&ncid=584&e=1&u=/nm/20040310/pl_nm/campaign_kerry_dc

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic White House candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) slammed his Republican critics as "crooked" liars on Wednesday and met former rival Howard Dean (news - web sites) to discuss working together to beat President Bush (news - web sites) in November.

Kerry and Dean, bitter rivals in the Democratic primaries, met for an hour in Washington after Kerry returned from Illinois, where he criticized Bush's economic record and renewed his promise to repeal tax cuts for the wealthy and boost tax relief for the middle class.

Kerry told a worker in Chicago that he was ready to fight back against his Republican foes, adding in an exchange picked up by television and radio microphones that "these guys are the most crooked, you know, lying group I've ever seen."

Spokesman David Wade said Kerry was referring to "the Republican attack machine" and not specifically to Bush or Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites), although he said Bush had "a pattern of standing by while other people ... do his dirty work for him."

8. You'd think their advance teams
would have worked out the high-five, gimme-five handshake thing. Looks like they got a little tangled up.

Oh well, it's good to see them together.

4. You got to believe Kerry
He's been a senator for twenty years so you figure he's seen some heavy sh*t come down the pike. this is the most crooked group, making Nixon look like a rank amateur.

9. That has a certain resonance.
"the most crooked...lying group I've ever seen." I've always called them mafia people, but "crooked" is a term my grandmother would sometimes use. It has history.

11. I'm interested to see what Dean will do next
He's still got many people out there supporting his ideals. I know I am really curious about how he'll reach out to us since his message was about changing this country and this party. I really felt the change during his campaign and now I see it as politics as usual with the presidential election-- kind of like watching one team in the Super Bowl you HATE and the other you are ho hum about.

I lead my precinct convention last night in north Texas. I caucused for Dean. I told my convention goers-- "well, here's your chance to convince me to caucus for Kerry". They told me "well, we don't really know what the issues are, we just think since he's winning it's a good idea to vote for him". I told them I wasn't expecting Dean to win Texas, but his ideals and what he stands for are still important to me and that's why I'll keep them alive. One woman when she signed in didn't even know how to spell Kerry's name....

Like I said, I'm interested to see how Howard is going to people power us behind Kerry.
